Oh, I'd much prefer we sign Colome and Pillar.

That's one of the simplest solutions. And both players have ties to Bloom...

SLG is given plenty of due, thanks to OPS.

Not really. In OPS, it's sort of viewed as OBP's annoying little brother...

Also, you can use both for puns about strength and support.

I'm not saying this is the best idea, but Mitch Moreland can play LF and he hits righties very well.

Could he be signed as insurance for Dalbec/Chavis at 1B but also as a LF platoon, assuming Beni is traded or playing CF or RF vs RHPs while Renfroe sits?

If that is important, we probably best avoid Joe Panik...

Absolutely correct. It is not the best solution...

It looks like Joc Pederson got $7M/1 with $500K in incentives.

I don't think this affects the value GMs are placing on Beni.

Also, Matt Moore to PHI for $3M + incentives.

Mitch would have a pulled hamstring first time he THOUGHT about getting a good jump....as President would say, C'mon, Bloom.

That, of course, is the biggest concern, especially at his age.

Plus, he's a fine defensive 1Bman, so there should be better ideas.

Now the Angels are asking about Vazquez.

The Angels have virtually no pitching between MLB and low A ball. For me, it’s CF Brandon Marsh or the Sox keep Vazquez...

That’s probably on the table with Trout, Upton and Adell locked in. Or maybe it’s a deal for one of their established pitchers? Or it’s just kicking of tires

Probably just kicking tires.

But for Marsh, it is worth thinking about. Unless Bloom signs Odorizzi. Then you keep Vazquez.

I can’t see the Angels trading an established pitcher. They have very little depth and a strong recent history with injuries...

FWIW Baseball Trade Values assigns a surplus value of $21 million to Christian Vazquez and $37.5 million to Brandon Marsh.

I am aware. But hey, if they want Vazquez, that would be my price. No idea what Bloom would ask for, but the Angels are very deep with outfielders with Trout, Adell, and Jordyn Adams, along with placeholders Justin Upton and Jared Walsh. Marsh absolutely could be trade bait for them. And it’s not like they can afford to deal pitching. Like the Sox, they have too many injury-plagued pitchers already.

But I suspect no deal ever happens...

Multiple websites are reporting interest.

But also saying in the past the price for Vazquez has been very high. Even I raised it per the BTV guidelines. So unless the Angels overpay, why bother making a deal just yet?

Schwarber, Joc Pederson, Rosario... all signed one-year contracts for around $7-10M each. The only full-time outfielder the Red Sox inked is Renfroe for $3M (they also had interest in shedding Benintendi's $6M).

Before this putting-it-offseason, who would've thought JBJ would get more total money and more years than any of them?

Most of those "multiple websites" were merely the echo chamber repeating a rumor first shared by Ken Rosenthal:
