Yep on Betts...

Trout is one superstar in a horrible position. Because of his contract, Angels can't get plethora of help elsewhere. It's kind of sad, yeah I know he makes tons of money. He's playing for money. His team has no chance to make the playoffs.

How was your day today, honey? We suck. I'm not having any fun.

I can't even remember the second baseman that went to play for Seattle for big contract. How did that workout? Is he relevant at all today?

Untrue. It's because of the other s***** contracts the Angels have had (Vernon Wells, Pujols, et al) that they never fielded a full team.

And more recently they managed to scrape up $245 million for Rendon.

Exactly. There is surplus money after Trout, they just aren't spending it in a way to compliment him.

I don't get that, though.

You usually think, "what's the middle point," between $300/10 and $420/12?

Maybe $360/11?

Counter with somewhere between that and your first offer. That's Negotiations 101.

So you make an offer and they ask you to meet in the middle? at maybe $360/11 but what if there's another club out there will to beat that offer?

No other club can make an offer to a player at that point.

They are also overpaying Justin Upton, Fowler and Cobb.

Thay are not a poor team because of Trout.

Their lux tax number is over $160M without Trout.

Yes, any comments about Trout's contract being bad for the Angels are completely off the mark.

My bad...sounds like they need a new GM.

Worked out fine for Seattle. They dealt him and Edwin Diaz for a package that included Jordan Kelenic...

Mookie went 0 for 6 last night. His BA fell to .240. He's out of the lineup today. Some concerning signs.

Did they rush him back from his injury?

Please stop with the Injury. It's just an excuse. It's not the first time he's in a slump for this long and it won't be the last.

Sox could use another good outfielder -- maybe Bloom could unburden the third-place Dodgers of Betts' contract if they throw in a couple of top pitching prospects.

The fact is we're doing pretty well this year without him.

It might be time to embrace Alex Verdugo, who, as many have noticed is pretty damn good.

Also - Fun Fact - “Verdugo” is Spanish for “Executioner”. At least it is according to my Translate App...

How could you not love Verdugo -- his performance, hustle, style, quotes. It's just sad that modern fans don't get to grow up and grow old with guys like him playing for the same team anymore, and then slapping high fives (or elbows) with him when he jogs a retirement lap around the ballpark.

Mookie who?

Trading away MB was total genius--the Red Sox got an excellent return and avoided a contract that will eventually be a disaster.

It helps to be a little luck, too. If I'm not mistaken, the Red Sox were willing to go as high as 300 million, but that just wasn't enough money for a dipshit like Mookie Betts.

Maybe, but the fact remains, he has not played since going zero for six on Friday. Seems like something is not right with him.

I would think that players would value playing for a team that has a legitimate chance to regularly make it to the playoffs during a 10-year contract with that team. With Mookie, the Dodgers are a good bet. With some of the other players that go after the largest contract, is it really worth it? I'd rather make $250 million and play on a winning team as opposed to making $300 million and play on a losing team. It's not just about winning or losing either. Is the difference between $250 million and $300 million worth your and your family's happiness?

The Mookie ship has sailed. Even if Mookie were having a typical MVP Mookie year, trading him was the right move.

Mookie was a late scratch from yesterday's game, officially because of severe allergy problems.

Allergic to “zero for X number of at bats”.

The only way I will feel truly happy about this trade, is for it to go total Jacoby Ellsbury 2.0. I want a total bust for the Dodgers! I don't want injury, but I do want underperformance for the contract.

Next... all I want is a Red Sox World Series Championship THIS YEAR. I think that would be a fair trade?

He pinched hit on Saturday and played yesterday. You really they would have pinched hit him on Satruday if he was really injured?

Posted
And it was the bottom of the ninth when he pinched hit and were down 4 runs. Lol injured my ass. You would not pinch hit someone when down 4 runs in the ninth who's injured. Especially with no one on base and one out.
