So basically we have nothing in the pipeline when it comes to starting pitching? You'd think that would be topic #1 at their weekly meeting.

Mata, who to me is a questionable omission from the player pool...

I'd trade Dalbec for Turnbull yesterday. And given the Tigers surplus of pitching prospects and dearth of hitting prospects, they might consider it as well...
I would do the deal in a heart beat, but I disagree that the Tigers would consider it.

I’ve said it before and been roasted.... Devers is not the future of Boston! Send him off for some arms! The kids D is suspect at best and the weight and slow hips won’t get better with age! Hell at the rate he’s going this season he will have 25 errors!

I'm building your funeral pyre.

This roster is in such bad shape I think you just hang onto the actual good players who have time left on their contracts. Trade relievers W/B/H at the deadline.

We'll have money to spend in the offseason on pitching.

As for this year's team, it's unwatchable for me. Good time for Fenway to be empty, that's for sure.

They picked up Christian Arroyo on waivers today from the Guardians. He’s out of options so he has to stay with the major league roster or designated again. Lin in trouble roster wise?

This acquisition just could be the missing piece.

They are seeing how many former #1 picks they can sign. Hope former Rock Falls player Seth Blair pans out.

Bloom ain’t to blame here. Mandate to get below the cap with Sale and ERod out for the year.

The genius of this would be if the Sox could grab the #1 pick in the draft and then snag a pitcher or two and bump into playoff contention for 2021. Watching a game in a 60 game season with no fans is just not as enticing as the real thing!

It was always about 2021 and beyond (or it should have been).

Has anyone seen a worse bottom of the 40 man roster on a Sox team?

Half the roster is rotten or close to it.

Probably 2022 and beyond as one year to rebuild this roster and the farm seems like to much to ask. I'm looking for positive steps in 2021.

HANG ON TO GOOD PLAYERS???? What? That's like saying if you ran a business you would want to hang on to your best employees. Come on. Get with the program. If you have a valuable product that your customers like, GET RID OF IT!

If only the Red Sox had a player so good that he could hit three home runs in a game six times by the time he was 27 years old...

Ben Cherrington never looked so good!

Hang’em Chaim = yugo

Cherrington = Kia

Desperate Dave = edsel

Cherrington had a ring and 3 last place finishes. Dombrowski had a ring and a bunch of first place finishes.

We'll have to see what the next few years look like before we can really rag on Bloom.

It'd be empty even if fans were allowed in.

Lin just can't really hit. he has positional versatility, but that's about it. If he had Marco Hernandez' bat, things would be different.

There are some dogs in there, but Barnes, Hembree, Brewer, Chatham, Lin, Weber and Walden are fine on a 40 man roster.

Yeah, you know, I thought I might like watching Dodgers games with Mookie, but it's pretty painful, actually.

Also, Valdez has been really good. Have you watched him pitch?

No reason to watch los Doyers if Vin Scully isn't on.

Truthfully, I watch some Dodgers games simply because a lot of them are broadcast on our sports channels and it's something to watch late at night.

Vin was a god, of course.

It is an amazing feat. Of course, the Sox had another player who hit 541 home runs and never hit 3 in a game.

But they paid Big Papi (who granted sometimes took what turned out to be team-friendly contracts). The Red Sox won three titles in the Ortiz era, but in all his other years that they didn't, the fans still had fun watching a great player perform, many times leading Boston into contention.

Some franchises may not win a ring for 86 years, but it is the star players providing sustained hope that make this entertainment product worthy of our time and investment.
