The media spin here has been that MLB went back in to re-interview certain Sox players and other parties. That is not encouraging. That is the sort of thing that happens when interviews taken later in the process uncovers more evidence requiring that investigators go back and re-interview. Then again, in Manfred-World, there is no telling what they could be doing.

Maybe you are right. Or maybe Manfred forgot to record the first sessions or lost his notes.

At this point, why are we even rehashing this. The guy who did the assaulting was not Verdugo. He walked in on it. It stopped. That's all I got out of it. Bryant's issues were a different ball of wax, but he is dead and we move on.

Onto the original point of this thread, Not-a-Manfred keeps dragging this thing out. Disgraceful. He said a month ago that he would have a verdict within a week. Now, still no timetable. The guy has ZERO idea how to run the organization. You finish this BEFORE the games start. Let the games starting be the rebirth of spring and move on. Dragging this into spring will put a stain on the games being played. Finish this. To have this investigation looming over actual games would be damaging to the product you are trying to market. It is bad for baseball as a whole

Don't worry -- this is exactly why the Yankees are safe -- despite the Beltran before-and-after connection (how is it even feasible his special talents weren't used or at least one of the reasons he was rehired after retirement?), not to mention incriminating words from Chris Young, Logan Morrison and even Girardi, himself.

Of course there were/are many teams using tech to get any edge they could/can, because every club has an analytics department. All we know for sure right now about the Houston scandal is that it was not "player-driven" as reported by Manfred, but a system devised by non-players in the front office, and that Cora and Beltran were hardly masterminds, but maybe -- just maybe, since they were both gone and easy scapegoats for the Astros to blame -- master implementers.

Major League Baseball's investigation into the Boston Red Sox allegedly stealing signs during their World Series-winning 2018 season is reportedly expected to conclude in March.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported the delay is likely so MLB can "inform any affected parties ahead of [the] announcement."

They keep pushing this s*** back. I can't believe it would take that long to inform someone. They only penalized a handful of people on the Astros.

If they aren't still investigating, it makes no sense that they are still dragging this out unless they just want to sweep it under the rug. The closer it gets to Opening Day, the worse this story will be for the league.

The Red Sox investigation is taking longer than the Astros.

I think Manfred is losing it, basically.

Never had it.

This guarantees the lead story until March 26 will be the Red Sox (pro or con) and what they did or didn't do and how inadequate the sanctions were, and why doesn't Manfred resign. 4 weeks of sports radio talk without any other hard baseball news to focus on. And Mookie thought he was the story of the Spring

Pete Rose should sue the MLB for selling a sponsorship to a gambling organization.

MLB isn't against gambling. It's against gambling for current players and coaches. That seems fine to me.

According to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman, the can is continuing to be kicked further down the road. Citing sources he wrote:

“MLB is not expected to announce findings from its illegal sign-stealing investigation into the 2018 Red Sox this week, but the plan is before the regular season. Word is that the scheme was not as systemic or widespread as that of the Astros, thus, the penalties are not expected to be as severe."

Sherman included that the Dodgers were assured by MLB that Mookie Betts and David Price, who were traded from the Red Sox, will not be facing any discipline, even though no players have faced discipline so far.

Weren't all players given immunity?

I'd say even odds that it's not announced until after opening day at this point.

To me it seems that the lawyers are looking at this with a micro scope. It seems to suggest that whatever evidence they have is not clear cut. It may be kind of murky. Hence the delay.

oh, it is on like donkey kong.

Yankees LHP Zack Britton takes jab at Red Sox sign stealing

on Tuesday during the Yankees-Red Sox broadcast, LHP Zack Britton had his own comment to make when color commentator Alex Rodriguez asked what the veteran reliever is working on in spring training with his pitches.

"You guys got the Red Sox on this broadcast? They know what's coming or what? Are you feeding them anything?" Britton responded with a smile.

f*** the yankees and f*** yankees fans.

The Boston Red Sox are still waiting for Major League Baseball's punishment for allegedly stealing signs electronically, and that announcement may be pushed back even further as the league will focus its efforts on preparations for the coronavirus outbreak.

"Coronavirus response is taking precedent for now," Jon Heyman of MLB Network tweeted. "So Red Sox result may be delayed a bit more."

This is about the most absurd statement coming out the ever remarkably absurd MLB that I could think of. This one REALLY takes the cake. They must be short of help over there if the same people working the cheating scandal are working COVID-19 issues.

The latest on the MLB investigation is behind The Athletic paywall but is summarized at MLB Trade Rumors:

.

I noticed a mention of 2017 in the article. Wasn't that already dealt with over the issue of Apple Watches? I thought the cheating issues would focus on 2018 and what was done at that time, if anything.

Perhaps the MLB is sorting through conflicting information from persons who have no reason to lie, from persons with reasons to lie, and persons in between.

Or not.
