Not to take anything away from Swihart, but if he was a Boston Bruin, he would have been jetisoned by now. He's not that great in any real area. He gets fooled at the plate, and never understood the love that Cora had over him. I think he was going to dump HanRam no matter what, and it seemed to come down to some weird by product of keeping Swihart on the MLB roster. I'm done with SS. I tried to pull for him, but he's not a MLB catcher, nor will be.

Maybe the question that should be asked is, Was the Spring Training preparation adequate? There was very little opportunity for the Starters to work the bugs out and very little time for the starting field players to be in as a unit. Also, starting on a long road trip can't be helpful. It is what it is, so the guys have to suck it up and start to play winning ball. Don't want to see us in a big hole going into May.

 

Certainly the short work in spring limited the chance for pitchers to get used to a new catcher, at least in game time scenarios.

My classic post gives Swihart all the momentum to have the game of his life for Sox...Love it. Go Sox!!! Moreland saved their butts, Holt did too. And some luck like the A's error and the double off the base.

It was refreshing to watch Swihart last night. It is good to see and athlete getting a deserved chance. I've read so much ******** here about all of his supposed deficiencies which are based on nothing but sporadic play over the past few years. Maybe he gets the chance he deserves this year. He has more athletic ability than the combined duo of Vazquez and Leon.

Also to date how is that much maligned bullpen working out for all of the critics out there?

I just went back to read the in game thread and now will need electroshock treatment to get over a bad case of depression. The Sox came back to win one. Swihart hit well, the pen was good again, a few others finally got some important hits. I'll take it as a omen of things to come. God bless us every one!

I didn't see the game, but the 4 scoreless from the pen is a beautiful thing. It's obvious that in spite of falling behind Cora treated it like a game we could win and it paid off handsomely. I love Cora!

Well, Slasher has every reason to believe it could be Pike, as Pike is certainly capable of this type of totally unhinged meltdown & scorched earth posting. It's hard to imagine unless you've seen it hundreds of times, but I most definitely would not put it past him. Truly sick accusations.

This wasn't Pike, assuming Pike is a former BDC person. This guy has been spamming the site with accusations about another poster for years before BDC people started coming here. He creates accounts and posts for months, sometimes a year, completely normally and then suddenly goes off. It's very bizarre.
