I think that I must have missed something. I think that I watched every inning of both games. I saw JD hobbling around for a little while but it didn't seem to slow him down. I didn't think that it looked bad. Maybe we'll find something out tomorrow. 2 games left in the season - I think he goes if he can. His bat means too much for him to sit. Maybe I'll be surprised.

One day (or even two) isn't going to make a lot of difference in his mobility. Either he can go or he can't. The injury looked bad, but we really don't know the severity of it, and the Sox aren't about to tell us. I think that he either plays all three in LA or he sits all three. JMO.

I think JD plays myself. The one caveat being that Buehler will pose a tough challenge for JD and if he is gimping around, is it worth it to start him v PHing later in that game and playing him in Game 4. There is no such thing as a hitter with no holes in his swing and Buehler is the one starter the Dodgers have that can get to the hole in JD's swing. If I were Buehler I would not let JD get anywhere near a pitch that would allow him to hurt me.

Generally, I would agree. But ankles can be taped, we don't know how bad it is, etc. JDM is the Sox best bat, but there are 8 guys in that lineup plus the pitcher.

If he doesn't play, Cora is stuck with maybe the best overall outfield in MLB and Porcello, whose regular season OPS was 1.143. Could be worse.

I have Porcello down for a 3 run HR, for the Sox , not against.

Id put Mookie at second. That would be a bold move by Cora.

We need Mookie’s bat in the lineup. I know JBJ has been awesome, but we can’t sit Mookie. He is a monster on the bases and is starting to hit finally. JBJ hasn’t been on fire this series so far. I’d roll the dice and put Mookie at second, but I’m sure Cora won’t. He’ll go with the safe play.

I would give Martinez one day off to rest the ankle. If necessary, I would be willing to use him as a pinch hitter in a key spot.

My lineup for Friday against the righty:

Betts: RF

Holt: 2b

Benintendi LF

Bogaerts SS

Devers 3b

Moreland 1b

Bradley: CF

Vazquez: C

Porcello: P

I don't know how bad the guy is beat up but it would be out of character if Cora sat him to rest him. He has been pulling out all of the stops to win every game in these playoffs. Sitting one of the best hitters in the game thinking that you can afford to because of the 2-0 just doesn't seem like something they would do.

It is a little surprising how many of the medical experts and baseball wizards here at Talksox are talking about sitting him. :)

Buehler is one of those weird Pitchers, and it was in the Minors too, he does better against LH Batters, then RH Batters. Dodgers are too potent of a team, to sit your best Run Producer, you give teams openings, and that's not smart. If he cannot play, is one thing, but you cant sit him. With NL rules, not playing him gives the Dodgers all the advantage in this game.

Next 2 games, Dodgers will have their potent Left Handed Line-up in. Hill is real good in Dodger Stadium. Eovaldi is hot, but Hill is consistent in Dodger Stadium. Has a 2.79 era there. Dodgers win tonight, this is a series again. Touchy situation. Your banking everything on Porcello tonight, he has to pitch lights out tonight, if JD sits. Rick like to pitch to Leon, I think he starts, over CV today.

If he is hurt, since the Sox are up 2 games, why not just play the best defensive team (Betts in RF, Bradley in CF, Kinsler at 2B) for one game. I don’t like the idea of giving the Dodgers hope, but I also don’t think that lineup is tantamount to giving a game away. They’re going to be without a DH, too...

No way JD sits, unless he's in a cast.

We'd be losing 2 key members of this team forever.

1) JD would kill Cora.

2) JD would be thrown in jail for a long time.

Agree. He's all in. Cora got to go for the throat, Dodgers are reeling. Hammer time.

Cora says he's playing, but isn't sure where yet LOL

No, Cora said he is going to be a game time decision. I am sure that if he can run and cover RF he will be in the lineup.

J.D. has been one of the main reasons for this team's success. He plays if at all possible.

It's a no brainer. A 2-0 game lead doesn't change anything. JD's health is all that matters.

Nobody here really knows how bad his ankle is, but I am certain that he will play, if it's okay for him to play on it.

Cora told ESPN Deportes he's playing.

Hats off to you. I think JDM will play, but that is a pretty neat solution. I think the guy not playing tonight will be JBJ, not JDM. So how about this--

Betts

Beni

JDM

Moreland

Bogey

Devers

Vazquez

Holt

Porcello

Yeah the guy has to play if he can. Lets just hope he has very little work to do out there.
