I preached that all February and March. It only matters if Dombrowski listens, not you people. (Many of whom told me to please stop, only less politely. And to be fair, it's not like any of you could do anything about it.)...

There’s only so much a team can plan for though. I personally didn’t mind waiting to see things to shake out in this case. Christ, I thought signing Lynn was probably a good bet. Boy, I was wrong on that one. This way, we don’t have to pay a guy a full year when he sucks. This way, we can see who’s actually worth acquiring. Only thing now is to hope we can trade for more of a salary dump than a trade dependent on prospects.

Since right here isn't going to single anyone out.

When people use the word meh, it angers me. I'm at the point where it angers me so much, I'm going to lose my s*** one day on a reply that starts with meh. It's just the lamest reply I can think of. It's insulting with being just so wimpy it makes you look like a DB. I can't stand it.

LOL I'm not a fan of the Meh thing either. It's kind of passive-aggressive.

Guilty as charged. I've used "meh" occasionally to mean, "I really don't give a s*** but here's what I have to say about it anyway".

But I'll stop. :)

I think Meh has it’s place. It articulates a certain human element to type. IDK, does a semicolon need to follow Meh though?

I have used Ho Hum to denote boredom with the comment, but not hear. Usually I reserved it for my kids.

Oh you knew someone was going to say it...

Yes, it's true that you can't ever have enough pitching.

Yes, it's true that you want as many quality starting pitchers.

But the Board is very naive to think that there are veteran pitchers out there that want to sign up with Red Sox in spring hoping for an injury to get an opportunity to pitch. What planet do you live in?

You have to do what other teams did - sign borderline pitchers to MiLB contracts. I know some fans think of this as “dumpster diving” and they prefer only adding quality veterans or letting prospects pitch. But once you have 5 quality veterans, it’s near impossible to add one more for depth. And using minor leaguers is fine, but you do have more options if you have more depth...

That I agree with. But some are suggesting we sign 8-9 'quality' pitchers. Quality pitchers don't want to waste a year hoping for injury.

If we get a rental, it won't affect going over in coming years.

My wonder is about Henry being viewed as the next Stienbrenner. We're going to have a budget more than 20% higher than the next team, if we go large now.

I get that a rental won't affect the coming years, but I would also hope that if the FO does choose to go over, it wouldn't be for a rental.

Meh, I just think it would be a bad decision all around.

Sox current OPS leaders:

1.139 Betts (Just sick!!!)

1.039 JD (Everything we wanted and more.)

.952 Pearce (1.192 with Sox)

.897 Beni (Blossoming in front of our eyes.)

.889 Bogey (Living up to the early hype.)

.853 Moreland (Loving life in Boston.)

.748 Holt (Stay strong, please!)

.715 Devers (One area we could get much better going forward.)

.652 Leon (Got himself up to respectability.)

.644 Nunez (One of the few disappointments. Injury???)

.642 JBJ (Coming on strong.)

.548 Vaz (Gotta keep bringing the OPS up.)

.513 Swihart (Not really solidifying his future in Boston.)

ERA (Listed in order of IP

2.23 Sale (Chris FREAKIN' Sale!)

4.13 Porcello (That shellacking really hurt his ERA.)

4.42 Price (Stay healthy is all I ask.)

3.44 ERod (Get healthy, please!)

2.66 Velazquez (Quietly became our #5 innings guy.)

4.20 Johnson (Bringing up his numbers.)

2.36 Barnes (Doing better than some give him credit for.)

1.77 Kimbrel (Buttah!)

3.79 Hembree (1.34 WHIP is scary.)

4.31 Kelly (Maybe better suited for the 7th inning.)

6.81 Pom-pom (WTF?)

1.62 Workman (Maybe our best hope for an in-house, second-half pen boost)

3.68 Walden (One can hope.)

1.69 Poyner (Sleeper.)

5.40 Thornburg(3.1 IP)

Nicely done.

I would really like to give a shout out to Barnes, who I think it doing much better than some give him credit for.

In terms of WAR, Barnes is on par with Kimbrel.

I agree that it usually makes more sense to wait until midseason to see how players are performing and to see exactly what our needs are when you're talking about big league contracts. That said, adding the dumpster dive depth type pitchers on minor league contracts really doesn't hurt anything. They may amount to nothing, but they might actually end up being able to contribute.

In all honesty, I typed this reply with 'meh' before I read Soxhop's rant.

That said, if the urge hits me to use the word 'meh' in a reply, which I don't do often so it's kind of ironic that I did so here, I will use the word 'meh' in a reply. Soxhop, I give you permission, in advance, to go off on me. :)

For God's sake don't mess with SoxHop. The guy lives in Texas.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I think we did things just right.

We have 3 starters out and, as is, can still bridge to the deadline to sort out who will be back and who won't be.

You couldn't plan for this. This is worst case scenario.

The only thing I find interesting, is that DD is looking at the cupboards for something to trade for some pitching help. And the cupboard is bare.

Yeah... and toddlers shoot their mothers the following week for good measure. ;)

I don't know why, but in this instance all I can do is laugh. But watch yourself Kimmi, I'm a race car, and meh has me in red. You don't want a race car in red, I could blow.

They teach them to be good shots down here early on.

I wonder why the cupboard is so bare.

I'm thinking that we did not give up much for Peacre. Maybe we can get a decent starter and RP'er for similar prospects. I'd hate to lose Groome, Mata or Houck.

The funny thing is, we have a Yankees poster here with the username "Meh".

If I were him, I'd be afraid. Very afraid.

I would like to know who made the Yankees second half schedule. It’s a joke of a schedule compared to our schedule. Got ten games between the Guardians and Astros.

Texas = big hat no cattle lol

Dude...... have you been down here? They are all packing heat, and everyone of these peoples biggest dream is an invader showing up some day so they can get all Dirty Harry on their ass. These people are psycho.

Barnes is my man. I've always liked him, especially when he gets ripped by some fans.
