  1. Glad to see this new site. I just started getting emails from it so I thought that I would try to get back into it again after a long hiatus. Embarrassingly, I forgot my password and the old site didn’t work when I tried to reset my password. I just tried again and finally I am back! Some of you may remember me and many probably don’t care. Honestly, I haven’t been following the Sox closely for quite a few years so I have little to contribute right now. I recognize the regulars here from the old site and good to see you guys are keeping it going. Sox had me excited early this season but their poor fielding seems to have hurt their chances for a wild card spot this season.
  2. Until he gets hurt.
  3. The team pitching wasn't constructed, it was destructed.
  4. And some will check out of curiosity to see how his career goes. When you are declared a superstar, it comes with the territory. And more so when that superstar left the team you root for.
  5. Mookie also had slow starts some seasons with the Sox. Not surprising.
  6. They like to say that Mookie is the second best player after Trout, but to me it is kind of a distant second, as far as numbers go. I don't really think that Trout is the appropriate comparison. As good as Mookie is, it has always felt to me that a lot of the excitement over him has been about his exciting style and his personality and smile. By the numbers, his is not at the same level as Trout. Trout has a career OBP over .400. Mookie only has one out of six seasons with an OBP over .400. Time will tell if Fenway Park played a big role in Mookie's batting numbers.
  7. I really don't remember, but a lot has changed in baseball since then. The Sox have not kept up with what is going on with successful pitching staffs. They have a lot of work to do to catch up with the top teams in the league in this area. This has never been an easy thing for them, even during this past era of success.
  8. The team from two years ago is gone. More players will be leaving. Past performance by an entirely different team does not predict the future. Look at the team today and tell me how they are going to transform into anything but mediocrity.
  9. It is worse than a cliff. The golden years are over. It was sweet while it lasted. Time to get comfortable with consistent mediocrity.
  10. I will be interested to see how playing half his games in Dodger Stadium will impact Mookie's numbers. When Fred Lynn went to California his numbers dropped off and many wondered how he would have done had stayed with Boston. His years ahead in L.A. may determine his true legacy, although he does have that 2018 WS ring to flash around.
  11. Manny got caught. https://www.espn.com/mlb/news/story?id=6310125
  12. Can't quite give up yet. Still within striking distance.
  13. Sox blow it. Their chances are over. They had me going there for a minute.
  14. Gotta win tonights game. Both Oakland and Cleveland lost. This WC race could tighten up in a hurry. Sox have a pretty good outside chance of backing into a WC spot.
  15. Sox still have an outside chance of "backing into" the Wild Card.
