Honestly if he is cashing a check from the Boston Red Sox I have a yuuuuuge problem with him helping a player from another team. Especially a player from the ALE. And most especially a player from the EE.

I'm not crazy about it either.

As I said in another thread, I watched the ESPN feed for the first few innings last night. During that time the guys in the booth were talking about the time when David Price and Scherzer were with the Tigers. One day Price went out to watch one of Scherzer's BP sessions and Scherzer required a non-disclosure agreement before he'd let Price watch.

That's a juvenile thought process in this day and age. Every player is willing to help and ex players yearn to give away their knowledge so they can stay relevant

Oh yeah, sure thing, Mr. Touchy-Feely. We all take this competition stuff too seriously, don't we?

But meanwhile you're ready to rip Aaron Boone's head off because he didn't pinch-hit for Bird last night.

Nice to see some of the top of the order guys have good nights. JD and Bogaerts with HR's and hitting by Mookie and Beni with one hit also hiit the ball hard tonight on more than one AB. Keep it up boys. Holt will be in the lineup tomorrow with Nunez getting a rest.

Might not see me here as much. We just started a road trip towards Maine and Canada. Drove 14 hours from Sugar Land, TX to Cave City, KY. Will spend time in NC, Philly, Sebago Lake, Q City, Montreal, back to the lake, NYC, Smokey Mtns, Destin, FL, New Orleans and back home.

5 weeks. Saving the games on DVR.

Nice box score tonight.

That trip sounds awesome. Have a great time Mr. Moon. Safe travels!

Do we know how serious moreland’s injury is?

If it is a spasm as reported, it is not a serious injury. We have Pearse to fill in.

Agree. There a lot of things going on when a pitcher takes too much time between pitches. They are over thinking, the batter gets more time to think, the fielders get back on their heels, and causes time of games to expand. Pitchers that get the ball and pitch quickly seem to always have the hitter on their heels. That is even more prominent when they can get ahead of the hitter with a strike one. Sox pitchers need to look no further then watching Sale pitch.

It depends on the terms of his contract.

I didn’t say he is breaking his contract or doing something outside rules.

I said I have a problem with it.

Let's just assume his contract doesn't say anything about it.

You're still left with the fact that he is helping the competition.

Pedro is helping individual players without concern for who they play for. It fits who Pedro is. He played the game for himself and to prove himself to others.

It still doesn't sit right with me.

Friendship and loyalty to your countrymen perhaps trumps team loyalty.

Maybe. But I still have an issue with it. And I heart Pedro like a brother....

Some pretty good comments about Pedro on both sides of the argument. In the end, I find I can tolerate what Pedro has done. In fact, I can live with Severino being a better pitcher and actually the ace for the Yankees. Makes for better competition at a time when I was almost feeling sorry for the Yankees.

Plus, if it's true that Pedro's coaching helped Severino, that makes what seems not to have happened with our pitchers more glaring. They got the same advice and even more coaching, but Pomeranz--my favorite whipping boy--still refuses to learn how to throw a changeup and relies way too much on that big knuckle curve and a so-so fastball. What makes Severino so tough is that sharply breaking stuff--to the right and to the left and always down--he is throwing. Why can't Pom do that? And why does ERod sometimes get away from doing that?

Posted
Severino has learned to master his fastball location. He's almost taken the Leo Mazzone rout of down and away repeatedly with the fastball. Once he is ahead, his slider is deadly and his change has really come around. But everything plays off his 98mph fastball. Pom doesn't have a 98 mph fastball

A Red Sox fan should never, ever, ever even think about feeling sorry for the Yankees. Do you think the Y's felt sorry for the Sox after BFD hit his corked bat homer? Or Aaron Boone hit his HR in 2013?

I've had an assfull of the patented "Yankees smirk" and their entitlement attitude. As someone here has as their sig line, 0-162 for the Yankees wouldn't be enough. And I wouldn't feel the least bit sorry for them.

I feel lucky to have seen him actually play live at Fenway in the mid 1950's to 1960, to be followed by Yaz, Rice, Manny in LF. Benintendi may get there one day but it's a tall ladder to climb when you play LF for Boston, good luck to Andrew .

Back to the present and 'a realistic view of 2018." The hitting seems to be holding up pretty well. The bullpen ain't lights out but is decent. The rotation had some rough spots in June/July--Wright on the DL, Price and ERod tanking, etc. But ERod looked darn good against the Nats, and Price says he will turn things around and Wright can't stay on the DL too much longer. Thornburg a nice addition to the bullpen--we hope.

Best of all are the most wins and highest winning percentage in MLB while being tied for most games played and having played more away than home games at just past the mid-point of the season. Realistically, at this point it's OK to smile.

Every bit as much proof as there is that Brady's footballs were underinflated.

I notice there's no denial there that the bat was corked. That's a typical Yankee fan's response. Here's what a third party teammate of Dent's had to say about it:

Acccording to Mike Torrez, `Mickey (Rivers) told me two years ago that Bucky`s bat was corked. If I had known that, I would have thrown him a spitter. Maybe that`s what I should throw Monday -- a nice wet one. No, he`ll get the same pitch.`

Now smirk for me. ;)

Well said, Max.

I'm very happy in what I've seen so far this year. We seem to have more energy and desire. We never give up.

We have good pitching, hitting, running and defense. Maybe we won't ebnd up #1 in any category, but we'll be near the top in all.
