The sox have Steven Wright, who has hit more wives than pitching mounds over the last 9 months.

I can't let this pass either. There's absolutely no evidence Wright laid a hand on his wife in anger, and if there was, it sure as hell wouldn't be something to joke about.

I take it as a sign that Jacksonian is starting to get nervous and will resort to the proverbial backhand slap to defend his team. He must have read Tomase's piece this morning and actually thought about the Red Sox batting order. All teams have a laundry list of ifs and buts at this time of year but if our ifs turn positive, our starting pitching (say again) could be the best in the league. As for the bullpen, a couple of more ifs. If things work our way, I think that we are going to have plenty.

Does it really matter that Chris Sale is left-handed? Right-handed hitters, even the best ones, don't likely think they'll have it easier....

Plus, having lefty SP'ers in Yankee Stadium is a plus.

RHBs OPS vs Sale

2017: .617

Career: .652

Price: .673

ERod: .704

Pom: .723

BTW, Pom had much better splits vs RHBs last year (.693 vs .778)

If I were the Yanks, I'd fear these lefties.

Numbers vs NYY

.555 C Sale

.739 Pomeranz

.745 Price

.749 ERod

Note: Porcello is .689 vs the Yanks and .705 vs RHBs. Wright does significantly worse vs RHBs (.753 vs .673) and is .518 vs the Yanks.

Ah, the moralist arrives. Point remains

He's just worried about Wright's .518 OPS against vs the Yanks. (4-1 1.91)_

The sox have Brian Johnson, who has proven to be more a AAAA arm and Steven Wright, who has hit more wives than pitching mounds over the last 9 months.

To be fair, he has stated he didn't hit her. Maybe he just pushed her or just yelled at her so loudly and horribly that someone was compelled to dial 911. They are going to counseling so I'm sure they are all fine now.

He shouldn't be on the Red Sox.

Sox fans can't rag on Chapman one day and then excuse Wright the next.

Instead of having a coming to Jesus moment, Wright is just going around saying "well I didn't put my hands on her." He hasn't really expressed remorse. f*** him.

Chapman did discharge a weapon but he did it away from his girlfriend. Chapman was also a better player at the time. Either way, we don’t know the extent of either. Chap may have been yelled at and shot his basement wall instead of arguing or hitting. Wright may have beaten the hell out of her. We don’t know, so trying to separate the two is ridiculous. I just find it funny how lots of people on here were playing morality police with Chapman but have been real quiet on Wright.

I'm pretty sure that I agree with you here. Based upon some of the things that they have done over the past couple of years, our ownership appears to be very sensitive to the current social climate. Does keeping Wright on the roster maybe look a little hypocritical? There very well might be a great deal that we do not know about this situation. I'm ok with that. It is not that I don't care it is just that I really don't want to know everything about everything.

He deserves his day in court. The Red Sox do not share that obligation. If their investigation reveals something then he should be cut.

Just heard a very good (in my estimation) interview with Tom Caron. Sounds like players and coaches and all things management agree that having that big bat in the middle of the lineup will mean more hittable pitches coming to the guys in front of him. If all of our underachievers have bounce back years, I think that this will be one of the reasons for that.

Without going into a political hole, it's just how life is. It's easier to criticize someone else than to give a hard look into your own faults.

I just find it very interesting that Price said "prepare to be booed" to JD. If he mashes, he'll rarely get booed.

Price said that he heard Papi get booed at some point. I find that hard to believe.

that is interesting - Price might very well be the single biggest key to this season for us well.

Out of respect for possible victims, I have to agree with you, let's stay out of this topic.

plenty of other things to bash each other without touching this subject

If he even returns to his 2016 level, the Sox should win the division.

That's fine to say now, but I don't remember anyone saying "hey, let's give Chapman a chance until it's all sorted out."

As a Yankee fan I said so, but I was biased. Still, witnessing some domestic abuse myself (thank god not in my family), it was a topic which should be sorted out of this type of forums, let's focus on BB related discussions.

How is that even relevant?

Price and his big mouth, I don't think Ortiz ever got booed in Boston, I might be wrong, maybe when he was dealing with the wrist issue.

his agent just dragged the entire baseball world through the muck for 3 months in his name.he will be booed and he needs to be prepared for it.hopefully he can handle it and somehow use it to play better.

It was a business negotiation. J.D. didn't do anything that should have people upset. I am very happy to have his TNT bat in our lineup.

No way should Martinez be booed for a drawn-out negotiation in the weirdest offseason ever.

Maybe they booed Papi a few time during his slump in 2009.

I think it's more reasonable that Price doesn't know what actual booing is.
