The Sox have been scouting the White Sox, presumably for Todd Frazier.

From all accounts of what I've read, Devers will not be joining the team any time soon.

I'd prefer Moustakas. I think he is the better fielder, and he is learning to hit a little bit.

I read we were looking at Quintana too

I don't see Quintana happening, mainly because I don't think we have the prospects, or at least can afford to decimate our farm system anymore at the moment.

Agreed.

Notice how this team has been able to play much better with a glove at 3B? f*** Pablo.

SSS, this is a team with two automatic outs at CF and 3B.

Devers, Groome, Swihart, Travis, Longhi, Chavis, Chatham, Dalbec, Ockimey... I think some combination could get something done. I just wouldn't want to do it. And I hope they don't.

@redsoxstats

'14 1st rd pick Michael Chavis is the best hitter in minor league baseball so far with a 212 wRC+. Out of 876: 6th in AVG, 8th OBP, 4th ISO

Unfortunately, he's basically a DH now and may not be on track to play 3B again.

Devers will be our third basemen see Chavis eventually getting moved to left.

Hate his bat. Will settle for someone who will give us league average offense and defense.

Sure. We all hate his bat with the exception of Thursday night, when we loved it!

If I'm going to make some changes I want someone who's going to be above average both offensively and defensively though. For the moment I'm happy with a player who only gets one chance in 9 to screw things up rather than having someone there whom I dread having the ball hit to every time someone on the opposing team comes to bat.

Of course we want someone above average in both facets, it's not going to happen right now. Like I said I would take average.

He's baaaack... or at least he may be back soon.

I'm a big fan of "If it ain't broke don't fix it".

This team is winning with Marerro (and if he's going to remain I have to learn how many r's there are in his name and where they go :() at 3B. I see no pressing need to put Sandoval there while we find out whether he can work through his issues.

His salary is not an issue to me and his playing isn't going to improve the product that's being put on the field, regardless of how much money he's making. I now see Sandoval as the "panic move" if the team starts to lose.

Keep Marrero for now.

When July rolls around, make a move for Plouffe or Moustakas or some rental 3B.

If Pablo is still injured, it might be time to DFA him like Rusney Castillo (who, with 6 HRs and 6 SBs at Pawtucket, might be more worthy of a 40-man roster spot than Sandoval).

The more I think about this the more I think bringing Sandoval to the parent club is a done deal regardless of Farrell saying " until we get through today (Saturday), get a chance to work tomorrow before the game, then we'll have a chance to sit down and talk to him (Sandoval) at that point."

During the post game interview on Saturday when Farrell was asked about the roster with Johnson being sent down he said, "...we'll be making a corresponding move tomorrow". IMO he almost let the cat out of the bag then. I'm disappointed that at least one of the reporters didn't ask what the corresponding move would be.

The good news is that they're keeping Marerro on the 25.

Pablo move will probably happen after today's game. I'm guessing Marrero stays because you need a backup shortstop and Rutledge would be a disaster there. My guess would be they send down Travis and make Rutledge the backup first basemen.

The corresponding move is Price, no?

The Sox are in no hurry to bring Pablo back. He is staying in AAA at least 3 more days. Marrero has stabilized the defense, which was much needed. I think the Sox will call Pablo back up soon, mostly because they have to see what he can contribute to the team, but if the team starts faltering defensively again, they won't hesitate to bench him.

Agree.

Plus, Rutledge is out of options, and with our depth at 3B already at our 5th string player, keeping Rutledge around makes sense to me.

Price up- Boyer down.

Pablo up- Travis down.

(I still think Pablo at 1B and eventually DH might end up being the long view, assuming he doesn't go the way of Castillo and Craig.)

Eventually, we may see...

Johnson up- Workman down or ABad traded or DFA's.

Rutledge is a Rule 5 player. He can't be sent down without offering him back to the team we claimed him from. He will be on our 25 man roster unless he gets DL'd.

True. Even if Colorado said we could keep him, he's still out of options.

Is he back with the team?

@TodayintheMLB

#RedSox Dustin Pedroia (wrist) expected to be placed on the DL today. Pablo Sandoval to be activated. Per @PeteAbe.

Pablo is going to have an unbelievable June now that he's back with the team. Bigly.

Yep, until he pulls a hammy around June 15 and is gone until August.

Well, one of the Sox Prospects guys expects Devers to be called up to AAA next week. That's just a short drive to Fenway if Pablo goes down.

Tons Of Fun sighting in the Sox dugout.

These idiots will pop him back into the lineup while both Mererro and Rutledge are playing well.

Got to see him fail again. That is clearly more important than putting the best players on the field!
