BAL & TOR both lose. Nice!

AL East

BOS

TOR -3

BAL -3

NYY -7

WC

TOR -

BAL -

DET -3

HOU -3

SEA -3

We're 6 up on the last WC slot for those who tend to be pessimists.

We're 2 away from the 2nd best AL record and 4 away from the best in the AL.

Thanks, Moon.

Just to keep things in perspective, we finished last in both of the previous two years. I'm not saying that I'm now satisfied with what we've got but let's recognize that this is a pretty good turn-around and we should enjoy it.

I know it's good for us, but what a horrible break for the team and Tito. This team hasn't won anything in years and now just when they're poised to do something good, this happens. :(

I never thought we were as bad as our record indicated in 3 of the last 4 years, but three times is no fluke. They certainly weren't as good as I thought they were going to be either.

With the amount of parity in MLB, particularly in the AL, it doesn't take much to turn things around in a dramatic way. Our championship in 2013 is a prime example of that.

I'm not surprised we are 4 games behind the best record in the AL, but I wouldn't have been surprised if we had been 14 behind either.

Baseballranks came out with their rankings. Moncada and Beni are considered "graduated" by their standards.

http://www.baseballranks.com/2016/09/17/top-250-milb-rankings-september-2016-the-braves-have-a-bright-future/

There are only 5 players listed as "tier one". Devers is ranked #4 out of the top 250.

(Margot is ranked 11th.)

Groome is tier 2 and ranked 17th.

Kopech is tier 2 and ranked #20.

Nice to have 3 in the top 20!

(Espinoza is the top tier 3 player ranked 22nd.)

Big drop off to the next player....

Tier 8/ #108 Ockimey

Tier 10/#142 S Travis

Tier 11/#152 Basabe

(Frankie Montas #159)

Tier 12/#171 R Raudes

Tier 12/#181 Dubon

(Logan Allen is #187)

Tier 16/#232 Chavis'

The Yanks have 18 in the top 250.

That's two 1-run wins in a row. Things are evening out!

To me, the one run losses don't bother me as much as those blow out wins followed by a 1-0 or 2-1 loss, or outscoring our opponent in a series and losing it 2 games to one or splitting 2-2.

I know those things happen, but for some reason, they get under my skin more than losing 3 games in a row 8-7.

Even with Moncada and Beni not counted as prospects, the Sox are the only team with 3 players in the top 20.

Without the SD trades, we might have 5 in the top 22.

Thanks Ben.

Hill has been a disappointment. I thought he would hit some extra bases in Fenway. I hate his swing. He's late and does not go opposite field with authority. Lazy fly balls and pop ups.

He stinks -- a complete 0. I'd rather see Marco play than Hill.

They must weight upside potential a lot.

I actually don't think BA weighs upside anymore than anyone else. The lower in the rankings you go the more fluidity there is between prospects. You can make a very strong argument for why #1 is better than #10. But it's almost more of a preference between 98 and 108. The further away a guy is the more tools matter over stats, stats matter more later on because the tools don't mean squat if they don't translate into results.

Guys like Ockimey go bust WAY more often than not which is why he's not a top 50 guy.....but he's got talent.

Dalbec definitely is interesting guy. 3B who is a former college pitcher throwing 92's. 6' 4" with power if he can connect. To me, he's more interesting than say Ockimey.

most do - harder to find that raw power. Of course 108 means that you wonder if he can get to it enough.

Hes about done. 34-35 and an ugly swing and bad pitch recognition. Or at least thats what he looks like at bat. Pitchers are fooling him. Cant even hit LHP that well. Id leave him off the PO roster and use Hernandez or someone. Seriously, i doubt they do that. Hes terrible.

My realistic view toward 2016 was 86 wins. That thankfully doesn't look like a winner as we move forward. I wonder how the rest of your rememberers are working.

I can't remember my projected win total, but I thought we we a top 5 fave in MLB and were as good as anyone else in the AL.
