i have nothing against Theo. He made some bold moves in 2004 which were just what that team needed. I never thought he was a very good negotiator when it came to giving out contracts as he tended to overpay. He's not our GM anymore so he means nothing to me. He's not even in charge of a team in our league. He's irrelevant as far as I am concerned. The only reason I even know his name is because he used to be our GM. I couldn't name the GM of any other team in that division.

If he's irrelevant why did you carry your signature about him for the whole year?

Well, that was an anticlimactic end to the Yankees magical season. It's a lot like a guy who lives paycheck to paycheck, eating nothing but Ramen noodles and peanut butter sandwiches and spending the few bucks he has left every week on lottery tickets. Then, after a year of struggling and barely making ends meet, he wins the powerball, and on his way to the lottery HQ to cash the ticket he's hit by a bus.

I approve.

Any thoughts on Cubs/Pirates tonight? I am leaning towards the Cubs & Arrieta, plus it would be nice to see Lester move on to the NLDS. But either team would be fine by me, neither has much postseason success.

Cubs for me.

Pirates. Almost all of my father's family (on both my grandmother and grandfather's side) are from the Pittsburgh area, and the ones who are still alive, mainly my great-aunt and various cousins and second/third/etc. cousins are Pirates fans. If the Sox can't win, I'll root for my family's team. However, I honestly wouldn't mind if any of the teams in it besides the Cardinals won. The Mets, Pirates, Dodgers, Blue Jays, Royals, and Cubs haven't won in a while, the most recent championship from that group was 1993. The Astros and Rangers have never won. As long as the Cardinals don't win, we're guaranteed to see a WS champion who either hasn't one one yet or hasn't won in at least two decades, and as a baseball fan that's good enough for me.

If I have to choose:

Pirates

Royals

Astros

Blue Jays

Rangers

Cubs

Mets

Dodgers

World Series cancelled due to weather

World Series cancelled due to asteroid strike

World Series cancelled due to alien invasion

Cardinals

Tonight I suspect that the Cubs prevail.

Although I like the Pirates too. McCuchin is my favorite NL player.

And I want the Cards eliminated asap.

I'm pulling for the Cubs, but I really don't have anything against the Pirates. The Yankees are out, so I'm good to go. I'm just hoping to see some good postseason baseball. That said, I would prefer it not be the Cardinals again.

So glad the NYY are done!!! But I'm tired of the Cards too.

As the saying goes, anyone but the Yankees! The postseason will be so much more enjoyable without them.

Well the Cubs move on...and tomorrow it's Lester vs Lackey in the Cubs/Cardinals game. I agree about the Cardinals, but they have had an amazing run and you have to hand it to their franchise from the players to the management.

Yeah, my thought is why are the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the NL in the gimmick one game knockout? If you took the five best records, the Mets wouldn't even be in. That's some ********.

You can't write it up any better than Lester vs Lackey. Nothing against Lackey, but go Lester!

Sup guys. Navafan29 here, though I may change my name to [something Else]fan29, as I refuse to have a member of the Tampa Bay Rays in my name.

I think home teams are 2 and 6 in wild card games so far... I'm terrified of going to one of those gimmick games now.

Lester Vs Lackey in the playoffs tomorrow! How often do you get to see stuff like this!?? Everyone has to watch. Would be funny if David Ross caught Lester. I believe there are 18 ex-Red Sox players participating in the playoffs this year.

I will be rooting for the Cardinals thoughout the playoffs, as I always do when the Sox aren't in it. Yeah the Cardinals always get in the playoffs, but I'm not the type to hate a team just because they're always good. The Cardinals are always on top in the right fashion and for the right reasons, unlike the Yankees. St. Louis fans are the last city that likes baseball better than football, which is something I can really get behind; the fans deserve to have their team win the division every year, because they actually care a ton about baseball nonstop, unlike most fans of other teams who mainly watch football and only care about baseball when their team is in the World Series or when they attend a game. I love how smart the Cardinals organization is at keeping the team consistent, unlike other teams who can't stop sporadically going up and down. The Cards use a mix of farm system, giving fan favorites good contracts, and moneyball to keep consistently good.

I don't hate the Cardinals. I respect their organization. It is very well run. That said, I would rather see another team win the WS. I think it's fun, and good for baseball, when a team like the Astros or Cubs win it all.
