Miguel Cabrera is 4-4 against the Rays tonight. 2 HR's, 2B and 1B for an insane 11 Total bases. Best hitter in the game today, bar none.

He is just a monster, easily my favorite player to watch in the league. He makes everything look so easy.

The 42.5 year old Jason Giambi steps up to the plate for Cleveland. I'm thinking, 'How can this guy still be playing?' And he promptly hits an absolute rope into the right-field corner.

Haven't been following the Cubs apart from LOLing at the standings, but is Starlin Castro ever going to be the player they envisioned when they signed him to the extension? OPS on the wrong side of .800, little power, moderate SBs, lots of errors.

Tonight the Orioles play the White Sox, the Yankees play the Twins, and the Rays play the Astros. The Al East gets it easy this series.

Hey a700, don't sleep on the Jays!!! :D
The Jays are the long shot in the division because of their bad start. But they will probably play a role as a spoiler at the very least. There are teams that I would rather play than the jays in the final month with all their hitters.

We're focused on everyone in our division except 2nd place. We're so focused on the Orioles and Yankees that we forgot about the Rays. Also, can we please stop bringing up the Jays until they're actually a threat and somewhat relevant? They're 9.5 GB and in last place. Why in the hell are we worried about them?

Is there anyone who is worried about them?

No reasonable fan is worried about the Jays.

The Rays are a good team. I pointed out more than a month ago that they had the second best run differential in the division and they don't have any weak spots like Baltimore's pitching or the Yankees hitting. I'm pretty sure I stated at the time that I expected them to be in second place soon. It took a little longer than I expected but there they are. Come to think of it, I also predicted the Yankees would be in fourth place...

Fortunately the Rays have one bitch of a September. They have their West Coast road trip at the end of August, play a pile of AL East teams, as well as 4 games against Texas. Yeesh.

Also, they have exactly 1 day off in the month of September -- in a span of 37 days at the end of the season, they play 36 games. The only day off they get is a travel day. They go from opposite ends of the country... Seattle to Tampa.

Derek Lowe retired.

Okay, I can cross him out on the 2004 WS Champions banner. I put an X if they leave the Sox and the day they return to Fenway if at all, then write retire when they retire. Only players left in the MLB are Damon, Ortiz, Arroyo, Youk, and technically Manny. I guess Tito counts too.

Garza to the Rangers for Olt, Edwards, and Grimm. It looks like the hold up was medical and it cost the Cubs getting Ramirez in lieu of Grimm. Either way I like the haul for Theo. Olt is a 3B prospect that can hit for average and power and can defend. On one list he was ranked as the 22nd prospect in the majors.

Hadn't checked the standings for a while and - wait wat - the Dodgers are in first now?? Wow, they really went through a torrid spell over the last month or so.
If they win tonight, they will have won 10 road games in a row. That will be their longest road streak since they were the Brooklyn Dodgers.
