Why are you mentioning Beltran here again? He has an .875 OPS the last two seasons averaging nearly 150 games a season. They didn't "pawn him off at the right time".

They got a good prospect in return. The Giants then let Beltran walk without being able to offer him arbitration to get draft pick. 2 month rental and the Giants didn't even go to the playoff.

That's a whole different issue than what your above post stated. Beltran has been healthy and productive. Dickey has been neither.
