The Chicago Cubs is the most horrible and frustrating team in baseball.

They might not even be the worst team in their city. What a horrible summer for Chicago baseball.

Not even close. The Marlins and Astros are substantially worse than the Cubs.

They are heading for around 95 losses in year 2 of Theo's 3-5 year plan. Thank goodness we got rid of that clueless bastard. There is barely anyone worth watching on that team.

Edit: Their home attendance is down around 4,000 fans per game.

They were always going to be bad in Years 1 and 2. Epstein inherited a pretty lousy team with a barren farm system and bad contracts. Epstein has rebuilt the farm system into a strength, and they'll only have $50 million in contracts going into 2014. They'll definitely be players for Ellsbury in the offseason. I don't think they're quite ready to compete in 2014, although they could come close if Rizzo and Castro have rebound years, but they're in much better shape than they were before Epstein took over.

Matt Harvey may need TJS with a partial torn UCL.

That seems to happen to every young pitcher nowadays. Like Strasburg, he has a great rookie year and then gets hurt.

1/3 of current pitchers have had TJS, or so I heard during a broadcast the other day.

That's a really high number.

This likely eliminates the Mets from contending in 2014. Does anyone think it will impact their decision to go after Ellsbury?

Evaluating and developing pitching talent is Theo's achilles heel. To paraphrase Bob Gibson, the only thing Theo knows about pitching is that he can't hit it.

Strasburg's mechanics were so bad that, coupled with his velocity, it was just a matter of time.

Isn't he an inverted W pitcher? Every pitcher who couples that with scapula loading inevitably has multiple arm-related injuries.

Yep. Bear in mind I know f*** all about pitching mechanics, but I was reading multiple sources pointing out the flaws before his injury.

I hope he overtakes Davis, back-to-back Triple Crowns is f***ing awesome no matter who is doing it, unless they are a Yankee. Awesome baseball stuff is awesome baseball stuff and that would certainly qualify. Plus, f*** the Orioles.

Hopefully, we don't find out that he uses PEDs. Today, there are no assurances. Hero's are viewed with suspicion, and that is a shame.

I don't feel so bad about losing a game to the Astros this year. When we lost that game and got shutout, I thought the Sox were just bad. That's actually not the case. We faced Brett Oberholtzer and has been pretty good this year. He's 3-1 with a 3.43 ERA and he's faced some good teams. He has faced the Indans, Rays, Rangers, Red Sox, Angels, and Orioles. He pitched again today, but he didn't do so well vs the White Sox.
