He needs to today. Baz has a history of dominating the Sox (7 GS, 522 OPS). Aside from the O's, who he now pitches for, we are his favorite opponent. 

That doesn't mean the Sox should consider trading for him! Put him against the Yankees and Baz shrinks (8 GS, 943 OPS, 12 HR).

I'm thinking the same thing.  One of Suarez' strengths is his playoff results.  I'd like to see him treat this as a playoff game.  I don't get too worked up over short-term results, but with only 4-5 GS remaining for him, I'd feel more comfortable if he occasionally flashes his A game.

A good outing by Ranger and a win by the Soxwould go a long way towards the "Nice Try, But No Cigar"  participation trophy for the Orioles

No Ways Narvaez has not been a help to them.   Adley's 2 HRs put some needed frosting on that cake yesterday.

The Polar Bear has been ice cold against Ranger so far.

Baz beat the Sox at the beginning of June when they were still swinging invisible bats, then lost to them in July when they used the enchanted mallet of the mighty Thor. 

He was tough in both outings, but now the line-up is different again, missing two free swingers -- one our HR leader, the other our hits leader -- but with the healed guys and trade acquisitions replacing them. 

And we still have Abreu, who recently edged Rafaela in AL position player WAR (they're #4, 5) and the league lead in doubles. Wilyer is also second to Alvarez in extra-base hits.

I hope he stays cold but this isn't the same version of Ranger. The ABS system is not good for him. He has to come in with stuff that is very hittable.

Sure looks like the rotation is the problem.  Early's gone but also on the IL.  Crochet's absence hurts a lot and he might relieve this season or might not.  Houck and/or  Crawford might make it back.  And don't forget Paez.  He's healthy and opposing teams are clamoring for his return. 

And this just in on Suarez--maybe he's inspirational.  The Sox won 5 of 7 games started in July and August when his ERA's were 4.76 and 5.70.  In 1 of his 2 losses he went 5 IP giving up 1 run to the Jays who scored 6 runs in the game.

Sending a AAAA player down would be somewhere between MLB and Triple A. He would be virtually in limbo.
