While Springer may be the least disruptive, I think our worst offensive positions are Catcher, LF, 2B and SS- not DH. Yoshida sucks on defense, so moving him to LF is a bit disruptive. Even Anthony looked a ittle shaky on defense, and to maybe help him stay healthier, he should DH when he returns.

I'd rather we just get a LF'er over a DH.

I'd rather get a catcher and risk some disruption to gave 250-375 points on OPS over Narvaez.

I'd rather we get a SS, even if the plan is to move him to 2B, now, in 2027 or later. Mead can DH or maybe play LF. He can also move to 1B after Willson bolts.

Adding a catcher also risks disruption to every pitcher on the staff if you are moving the best defensive catcher on the team.

It is a bad trade in retrospect. My point is that he was solely focused on Ryan and couldn't get an alternate deal done. A more experienced CBO would have had other fires going. I hope he has learned from this.

Agreed. DMay as your fall back was lame, although he's doing okay, now.

At this point, it makes zero sense to deal him. He's a starter for the next 5 years. Last season, he was a question mark.

Agree. They already traded Early, so I can’t see them trading another SP.

I agree.  I'm still incredibly PO'd at him for demanding that he speak with the owner of the company because his boss got fired, even though Story was a big part of the reason that his boss was fired.

But even putting that aside, he just didn't play well.  His plate discipline was so bad that I'd fine a pitcher for throwing him any strikes.

i'm still PO'd at Bloom for signing this loser in the first place. i didn't want him before, during or after he was signed.

Two top 10 prospects. He only has 1.5 years of control.

Witherspoon and Gonzales? IDK.

How costly? Adley’s seems to have lost some luster.

His defense is still great and he's hit better this season.

Team CERA (catcher catch different pitchers, so this is not as telling as it seems)

3.21 Wong vs 3.75 Narvaez

OPSA: .669 w Wong and .695 w Narvaez

Most SP'ers do better with Wong.

Some small 2026 sample sizes but so far... OPS Against

These pitchers do better with Wong: (Early did but is gone) Vets do better w Wong

Suarez .452 v 619

Gray .661 v .743

Bello .739 to .926

Sandoval .719 v 1.162

__________________

Better with Narvaez: I'd be worried about the two kids.

Bennett .518 v .821

Tolle ,474 v .759

Pen:

Better w Wong: Moran, Slaten, Guerrero

About the same: Whitlock, Rivera

Better w Narv: Chapman, Watson, Weissert

There is a risk changing catchers, but having Narvaez bat when hitting around .550 is not helpful.

I added witherspoon to my hypothetical trade.  Witherspoon/Primera should get it done, but that's almost certainly not the trade.

Adley Rutchmen has 2.2 FWar this year compared to Goodmans 2.5  But Adley did that in 67 games opposed to Hunters 102.  All things equal Adley is the better catcher if healthy.

Switching up our catching is orders of magnitude more disruptive than replacing Duran with Masa in LF.

And hitting in MLB is the most streaky, unpredictable thing in sports. Guys can go hot or cold in the blink of an eye. We could trade Narvy and prospects for Jeffers, and Narvy could out-hit him the rest of the year. That is not out of the realm of possibilities. But knowing the staff and playing good defense are much easier things to bank on. We know what we have there.  Jeffers is not a life-long masher. He is hitting way above his career avg's. He could easily come back to earth any day.

I always want my catcher to actually be able to catch (unlike Wong). I'd want them to work out an extension with him too.

That is rare nowadays, but the Dodgers do have a 2,500 hour window to work out an extension…

Not with his agent. They will test the waters.

This is what I like about Breslow.  If something doesn’t work out, he’s pro-active.

Take Curtis Mead.  Big acquisition that unfortunately fractured his wrist almost immediately.  Breslow’s new plan? Move on Rutschman, who is already on the IL with a wrist injury.

Take that, Karma!

I would consider Adley for prospects outside our top 5. Retain Narvy and Wong as to not disrupt our pitching. Ease Rutschman back as DH and let him learn the staff over time. Offseason we can trade the odd man out when more teams may be looking for a C.

He's also a switch hitter.

I was not very high on him, but he might help just enough.

Both Narvaez and Wong have options. Just send one to WOO. Having 3 catchers on the roster doesn't work well.

His splits vs LHP aren't all that great TBH.

He hits lefties and righties both well, and mashes at Fenway.
