Big win.

Sandy, Rafaela and Siegler with big games.

Rafaela did have a big game. HR and a great play in CF. But at a critical moment he failed to move Siegler (on 2nd with nobody out) to third. Situational baseball.

Another game I could not watch because of the new world, I only hope it's a few games a year moving forward that goes to an app but I have my doubts.

So all I can do is read the thread to get a feel for the game. I see Weissert is still an issue, I'm so sick of that guy, and Fred Lynn is still a weird poster.   Apparently Ceddanne hit a bomb and made a great play but he is a dog who is regressing and failed last night because he did not move a runner over.  Yeah that makes perfect sense.

Chapman got another save but still walked a man, this is still a concern for me.  That's 4 straight appearances with at least one BB, I'm keeping an eye on that.

Can't wait to watch tonight.  2 nights in a row without a Red Sox game sucked.

Admit that your negative fixation with Rafaela is beyond absurd.

A guy who fails to move a runner over happens all the time in MLB. It's not a "blunder" or even a mistake. It's what happens in baseball. That damn round ball moving over 90 mph is very hard to hit where you want it to go.

I used to respect Fred way too much.

He didn’t get the job done. Otherwise he had a great night and he is much improved this year-so far. We will see if he can maintain it. There has been some regression recently that astute observers have noticed-swinging at more pitches outside the zone than earlier this year. Could be he’s tiring, which is what he did last year.

He also succeeded in hitting a 2 run HR…

And made an unbelievable catch in CF.

He also failed to move a runner from second to third when nobody was out in a one run game. Let’s be fair about his performance: some good and some not so good.

Game over

Rafaela’s blunder didn’t matter. But it was still a blunder.

guy is not perfect but he is the best defensive CF in baseball and his bat is quite improved this year.  Find some one else to kick. You can start with Weissert. that guy should never be used in a key spot.  garbage innings only.

I believe I am treating him fairly. I cited his catch in CF and his HR earlier. If he screws up I’ll point that out too. All the players are subject to a fair assessment. When they are good they’ll get a Hoodsie from me (it’s an ice cream treat made by Hood Ice Cream and served from ice cream trucks back in the 60s) and when they screw up they’ll get a lump of coal.

Posting bad takes is not entertaining. And you are doing it again here.

Rafaella as you said is the best defensive CF in  baseball.  When you put his defense with a .283 average 769 OPS and a 4.4 WAR you have a very good player.  I have no idea why you are such a hater, He is the most productive of all the young players they have put in the lineup, he is one of the players we should be most excited about.

Even good players screw up sometimes. Failing to see that reality and point it out when it happens isn’t a fair assessment of performance. I’m sure Rafaela knew he should have moved Siegler over in that situation.

You harped on one play, a play a ton of MLB players fail to make.  You said he could have cost the team a game, in a game where he got 2 hits, went deep and made a great play.  That's not a fair assessment, that's being a hater and apparently you have been doing this all year.

Plus it's not necessarily the recommended move for one of your best hitters to do anything but swing away in that particular situation.

I finally learned the only solution is to put him on ignore.  Otherwise you waste a lot of your precious time engaging in these futile back-and-forths that he is obviously the only one who enjoys.

When he made that catch in CF-which was an unbelievable catch-I immediately commented on it. If you were on the game thread you would know that. And when he failed to move a runner to 3rd base with nobody out I criticized him. That’s called being fair. We need more posters here who point out both the good and the bad.

You do your best to hit the ball to the right side in that situation. You know that’s the correct play. It’s basic fundamental baseball. One more run could have meant the difference between winning and losing.

Its OK to be fair, critical when a guy screws up and complimentary when they make an outstanding play. That is what I do here. And I challenge anyone to prove that statement false.

Rafaela gets more grief here because he sometimes wears a goofy grin when he misses a pitch by three feet.

When Roman Anthony whiffs on a ball in the dirt, his lips are tight and his eyes are slits. He looks madder...

... which he should, with his career 27% K-rate, compared to Ceddanne's 22% (which is also the MLB average).

He's hated Rafaela since Raf began wearing a Sox uniform. I believe Raf may have stolen Fred's dog.

You did more than call him out.

You blamed him for losing the game and called it a blunder. Getting picked off a base of dropping a pop up is a blunder- not what he did.

Innings later you kept blaming that play, despite what he did to keep us in the game, the implied sole reason we lost.

It's okay to say you messed up or didn't mean it that way.

You've had it in for Ceddanne since day one, and you actively seek out anything he does badly as some sort of evidence you were and are not wrong.

Ceddanne has arrived. He's a good plus player at worst: he's reached stardom at best. The Ceddanne bee has been and remains in your bonnet.

I called him out on a bad play-after I commented on a great catch in CF. Fair and balanced. I’ve also said I’ve become sold on Durbin (I’ve said he’s a vacuum cleaner at 3B) and commented positively on Siegler and several other players. And when someone screws up (including Rafaela-who has for the most part had a very good year).

And I’ll continue to present a fair and balanced analysis of the team’s performance. I’ll leave the pompom waving to others.

You are fully and helplessly delusional, and you can't even see it.

I'm done with interacting with you. I shoulda listened to the others.
