Can honestly say I was not expecting the Sox to win the first 3 games of this series outscoring the Yanks 16-5.

What a crazy freaking game.

But we all circled this on the sked as the weekend the Sox would shank the Spanks with three rookie starting pitchers.

Reminds me of a 5 game sweep of NYY in late 1950 's .

Or the TWO five game sweeps back on ‘12!

Oh those ‘12 Sox.  Smoky Joe Wood, we may never see your equal.

(The Sox actually did have two five game sweeps of the Yankees in 1912.  But 5 game series were very common back then and sweeps did happen)

Nervous what Breslow will do if the Sox sweep tomorrow...

Last time they looked this good vs. NY he traded their one true power hitter.

And after their biggest victory by 16 runs this season, he fired Cora and the whole non-Bailey coaching staff.

So… fire himself and name me CBO? Is that option on the table?

Not yet on the operating table, but may be on the gurney.

Always inclined to recline, but not while driving (though sitting in traffic, which is actually just steering).

No matter one's thoughts on analytic reliance , how do Gasper and Yoshida rate a place at the top of the lineup.

It should be Duran leading off.

He was 0-4 with two Ks, and is hitting .198.  Yoshida was 2-3 with a dinger, having a bad year and still hitting around .250.   Yes Duran 'should' be leading off, but in order to do that, he 'should' be hitting a lot better thana he is.

Duran has the worst OBP on the Sox, non-hernia division.

And let’s be honest - it should be Braiden Ward.

It's not like Duran was not given a shot at winning the 1 slot.

He's played 42 games there. (Only Anthony at 22 is close)

.267 Duran (195 PAs)

.347 Anthony (101)

.250 Gasper (28)

.308 Yoshida (13)

.545 Waton (11)

.400 Rafaela (10)

Sox shredding Cole into slaw.

No matter where we are in the standings it’s always a great day when we beat the Yankmees…..

Got that right, and 3 in a row makes it 3 times more sweeter.

As usual, Cole pitches and Devers hits two dingers.

As unusual, the Red Sox no longer need a translator for Raffy -- but there are actually serious people worried that the CBO needs one for the trade deadline.

Good to see the bats finally waking up. I had to believe Durbin wasn't this bad.  Duran is another matter but spanking the Yankees is always a good time.

Starting pitching has been tremendous this season, as has the improved defense.  Yankees every time I see them play just don't make plays that are there, and commit a lot of errors.  Allowing a runner to score from 3rd on a 160 foot fly out was embarrassing.  Almost as bad as when Yoshida was unable to score from third when the first basement conceded the run because he had a 1 step lead off third. That was the low point in the season for me.

I have no idea why the Yanks have been trotting out Volte for several seasons. Every time I see him play he sucks.

I think Duran will come back.  His history of success is too long.  Of course, I think he is inside his own head too much, but sometimes all it takes is one hard-hit ball to make you forget a month of doing nothing.

IRT Volpe, I loved the guy coming up, but Cashman promoted him too quickly.  He had a 30/8 K/W in 89 ABs.  At the age of 21, he should spent at least half-season in AAA, or until he got his K/W under 2:1.  But I'm convinced that Cashman thought that Volpe was the next Jeter, and maybe wanted to show the world how smart he was.

At the risk of inviting bad karma into the RSN, I was out with my wife yesterday.  I glanced up at the TV, saw it was 2-0, and was thinking to myself how good that was.  These games are always in doubt, but my confidence level was huge.  A month ago, I'd have turned it off since I wouldn't want to see how we gave it away.  And was with Bennett on the mound.

Less than two full seasons is not "too long."

.622 first two seasons (335 PAs)

1.006 first 29 games of 2023 (110 PAs)

.753 the last 74 games if '23 before going on the IL (252 PAs)

.834 for that fantastic 2024 season of 735 PAs

.722 in his last 1026 PAs.

He's never been consistently good for more than that one great season. He's played in 6 MLB seasons, with 2 being short samples and one being cut short by injury (AUG 20, 2023.)

Although the Sox are 2-4 in Bennett starts, they really should have been 4-2 or even 5-1 with some decent offense.

5 IP 1 ER win

5.1 / 4 loss

5.0/ 4 loss

5.1/ 2 loss

6.0/ 0 loss

6.1 1 win
