Durbin is at least playing great defense. That's it though. We now know what it's like to have Ke'Bryan Hayes on the roster.

from what I’ve seen DUBin is a little vacuum cleaner at 3B.

It's also been nice to see a 2Bman that can actually make all the routine plays and then some.

Too bad our 2B/3B combo can't hit over .620. In fact, these positions as a whole are both below .570!

.491 3B

.567 2B

.574 SS (Not much better)

.626 LF, .652 DH, .673 CF (Duran brings down Ceddanne's boost)

.803 1B & .864 RF

If Jarren “The Man With 1000 Batting Stances” Duran can get going and Story can hit like he has over the last 3 years, and if Durbin can, well what can Durbin do?  Bat ninth I guess.  Then maybe this team could finally put something together.

Thats not too much to ask.  But honestly, if that does happen, it will likely just expose the bullpen…

At the end of the day, a team that score 4 runs in the first inning and a team that scores 4 runs in the 9th inning still scores just 4 runs.

Sox are 4th in the A.L. in runs allowed.  Sure, if the offense fixed itself one could move attention to the bullpen as an area to fix but it's far from being "exposed" Maybe thats the starting pitching picking them up that much but 9 innings is 9 innings.

MVP of the game was Rafaela for the pinch hit.

We already had someone nominate Masa for Mayor just for hitting a little ping pong serv over a drawn in IF, so Rafaela Man for Governor.

So he can bat ninth, which makes him the more useful and cheaper Hayes…

He's a vacuum cleaner at the plate too.

And Luis Gonzalez went down in MLB history for a routine blooper to shortstop, except for that drawn in infield…

If they are burying a bat at the bottom of the lineup, the rest of the guys need to hit. That's just not happening.

Yep.  Duran and Story are the prime violators…

And Dave Roberts went down for stealing 2b one time. And Beni made a catch that is routinely caught every night in MLB but everyone acts like it's the greatest catch in modern Red Sox history.

It still might be.  Sure it would have been routine for some, but let’s credit Benintendi with the effort.

I think the Robert’s thing has always overshadowed  Kevin Millar working the walk in the first place, so Robert’s could pinch run.  In 16 postseason series and 141 postseason innings, Rivera only walked 21 batters.  The credit needs to go where it’s due…

... and that's to Bill Mueller, for ripping the RBI single through Rivera.

For perspective on that unlikely feat in that situation, consider this: how many current Red Sox batters would even make contact, and of those, actually put it in play? Answer: negative two.

Fred would be typing Game Over when the Yankees got out of their cabs arriving at the Stadium in the afternoon before the game.

 Not much suction though.

Wow.

He hung that curve like you wouldn’t believe, and we are talking a John Wasdin level hanger here, and you not only whiffed on the most obvious punchline, you actually came back with the worst one.  Even letting it stand alone was better (and sufficient).

This is why you have absolutely no future as a joke writer.  And if we are ever in some sort of emergency and the President says “the only solution to avert a National crisis of epic and possibly Armageddon-esque proportions is a punchline from Old Red that, well, all it has to do is not suck”, I will know we are truly doomed.

Take this as a constructive criticism…

We're all just riffing here. Some just less successfully than others.

Too close for me at the end but Chapman did indeed dial it up midway through the Harper at bat.   But man this team is borderline unwatchable.  When will Duran finally get it going? We have too large of a sample size to believe he is this now.

The first step to Duran beginning to hit consistently will be to retire that prepitch leg kick or at least tone it down a lot.  He is off balance and flat footed by the time the ball gets to the plate.    I know some hitters use it as a timing device but Duran is not that good .  Tell him to check out Ted Williams book and learn.

The leg kick is what helped him breakout in '24. What he needs to do is just find one swing and stick with it.

The importance of certain plays is when and where they happen.

Monasterio at DH, tonight AND batting second!

1. Duran LF

2. Monasterio DH

3. Abreu RF

4. Contreras 1B

5. Rafaela CF

6. Story SS

7. Narvaez C

8. Durbin 3B

9. IKF 2B

Again, no Mayer vs the lefty.

Cora would never put so many RHBs back to back, so maybe more changes are possible/coming.

We don't need Bill Mueller, we need STAR POWER.

the lefty Mayer has 3 hits in 8 at bats against lefties. the righty IKF has 3 hits in 20 at bats. so yeah....play the worst hitter because lefty pitcher. i swear man...

Trying to keep Mayer from the IL, I guess.

LMAO!

it's nearly the same with Monestereo and Masa. Masa hits lefties better than he does. but, by gawd, the anal litics says you have to bat righties against lefties. because, that's why.

4th as in 4th best or 4th as in 4th most runs allowed?

Sorry H2, answered my own q. We are indeed 4th in the al in pitchign and defense. Hooray.  Maybe some of our pitching and defense lovers will learn a lesson?

Hint: they wont, they will do extreme mental gymnastics to justify a victory lap.
