That would be a ridiculously bad outcome . Even with natural healing, RA will miss 50% of season . With surgery, make it 80%

Not if they had decided to just give him the surgery when the injury first happened, like what the other two teams did.

Red Sox Injury Report:

Suarez: May be ready by his July 21st eligible date.

Early: Ramping up workouts with "eye towards bullpen session followed by possible rehab start.)

Crochet: No plans to start throwing.

Story: "Seems all set from hitting perspective." Could be close to rehab assignment.

Oviedo: Will throw pen session this week.

Houck: Throwing 2 pen sessions a week.

Crawford: Resumed throwing aat 100 feet.

Anthony: "Waiting to be symptom free."

Mayer: Follow-up X-Rays and hand specialist visit today.

IKF: They wrote the exact same as Mayer's, so maybe a mistake?

Casas: No update since July 5th for the China Doll.

How did Anthony's torn ligament in his ring finger come to now be described as a sore wrist ?

It took awhile to get Casas out of our minds and future , but is Anthony becoming chronic.  Hope not, I would actually like to see if he can play MLB baseball for an extended run.

Hands are a little different. There are few muscles in the hand. Tendon for ring finger joins the muscle in the forearm, so ring finger tendon might be sore in wrist area.

I searched two other sites beyond MLB.com and all list finger not "wrist."

It looks like Crawford has developed elbow soreness from trying to rehab from a broken wrist??

all we have close in the minors are eyanson and wehunt

Suarez is the only guy we have with few questions about 2026 and 2027. Apparently, he'd be active now, if not sick.

You forgot Oviedo, who could possibly pitch later this year and could eb a SP'er for 2027- his last year of control.

Rivera could be an option. I also see Holobetz, Mullins, Rogers, Ziehl and Paez as possibly being MLB "ready" by 2027, but most cannot be good enough to warrant a promotion, unless we are hit by many injuries.

2027 all healthy rotation options:

Crochet, Suarez, Bennett, Tolle, Early

Houck, Crawford, Oviedo, Bello, Rivera

Eyanson, Wehunt, Holobetz, Ziehl, Paez... (Witherspoon?)

That's 10 pitchers with ML experience as SP'ers and maybe 4-5 in the minors that could be helpful. Remember, Tolle and Early were like 9th and 10th on this year's "all healthy" depth chart. Bennet was maybe 11th or 12th. Soxpropsects.com had him listed/projected at AA, pretty much all winter long. Rivera wasn't even on the list.

I am still shaking my head about when he told everyone he was swinging a bat.  Then said he was swinging 'in his mind'.  I think we've passed the one-year anniversary of that pronouncement, and he still isn't swinging a bat.

I don't mind folks being eclectic, but he was just screaming not to be taken seriously.

I'd say we count on zero from him, but if he ever gets healthy, I can't forget how well they guy could hit. Talk about taking up a roster slot, he makes Story look like Lou Gerhig,

He's a fine hitter.  Good eye, good power, even if he can't field.  But I wonder if he is taking his recovery seriously.  I have no backup for that, but with numerous setbacks, and he wasn't in great shape to begin with, it makes me wonder.

It and he certainly raise doubts.

I really liked his approach at the plate, despite many thinking he took too many strikes.

He had a very nice OBP and power, so that's never a bad thing.

IMO, he should be a DH only going forward. I felt he should have been from day one, but Yoshida cornered that market.
