The Sox opting to skip surgery may be a problem here. 

Especially if it finally comes to surgery.

That would be a ridiculously bad outcome . Even with natural healing, RA will miss 50% of season . With surgery, make it 80%

Not if they had decided to just give him the surgery when the injury first happened, like what the other two teams did.
