This team has had many bounce back hot streaks. Of course, many of those streaks and stretches were with guys like Anthony, Devers, Abreu and a few others no longer active on the 26.

Being an inconsistent team does not predict a losing team, going forward, especially when you look around and see that just about every AL team has been wildly inconsistent, too. That includes these teams:

DET lost 9 of their last 10

NYY had a 22-29 stretch within a 25-34 period.

SEA had a 21-27 stretch and a shorter 1-6 stretch not too long ago.

HOU went 20-27 for a long stretch, then lost 5 of 8 right after.

Tor went 11-18 early in the season.

CLE went 7-21, once.

What a well-timed sweep this would be...

One good thing for the Sox is that Cleveland and Detroit have a 3 game set while we are north of the border.  One of the two has to lose 2 games which helps Boston big time with a good outcome and mitigates any bad outcome in Toronto.

More game to go, but...

After 6 innings: ATL 3 DET 0 and BAL 1 NYY 0.

After 3 innings: CLE 2 MIN 1

And Detroit finishes with 3 at Cleveland and 3 at Fenway. It's going to get interesting.

One of the best seasons ever for me because of Bres bringing up youngsters to play in the big leagues.

Early makes his third start tonight.

Harrison made his first start yesterday.

Tolle has been relegated to the pen but he made three starts.

Hunter Dobbins had started eleven times.

Not a rookie, but Fitts started ten times.

It would please me if Bello gets relegated to #6 status because of these young guns. It just means we've upgraded our starting rotation. Bello needs an opener.

We need DET to keep losing, since they have the tiebreaker on us. Beating them ourselves could solve that issue, too.

With automatic runner on second on top of the 10th, why in the hell would you pitch to Judge? He was eventually walked but why take the chance? Am I dumb?

It does seem like a pretty bad idea, yeah. Can't really imagine a rationale. I mean, I guess it might increase your chance of giving up a crooked number, but it seems like it also very much increases the odds of...

Ah. Grand slam. Rats.

Mountcastle earns the golden sombrero with the bases loaded to end the game. And to imagine that I was figuring that Baltimore was actually going to give the Yanks some trouble. Rogers won for the O's but that was the end of the fun.

Uhhhhh....

EDIT: I mean, offensively that lineup is not bad. We've had worse. But can Yoshida throw? Rays are going to go first to third all night.

What Yoshida in RF says the most to me is, "How bad must Duran's arm be?"

Early’s a lefty; Tampa likely will load the lineup with right handed hitters so in theory more balls should be hit to left.  I assume that’s the thought behind it.

Now, you just know the ball will find Yoshida all night, but it probably would true if he played left as well.

Doubt that he is near game ready after a month. Hope he hits 3 dingers though

I felt the same way when the RS had 2nd and 3rd and 1 out in the 10th a few nights ago.   Why pitch to (who was it? Eaton? Sogard?)  to ANYONE?  Just walk the bases loaded setting up the force at home.
