If Early can shut out the Rays the rest of the game, while the Sox just score their average runs per game, Boston will win by almost 2 runs

(1.92 exactly -- which probably means Hamilton slides headfirst towards home, but never reaches the plate when his oven mitt pops off)

Sending a guy when you have men on second and third and no outs -- and trailing by 3 runs -- can only be considered a smart risk when it's the Red Sox...

.... because it's not even guaranteed the next three batters will make contact.
