I unfortunately think that too, he’s only player currently on roster I have a jersey of and one of the guys I pull for the most. It’ll be a sad day when he’s gone

His jersey is the first Red Sox jersey I’ve ever owned. Crazy right? I bought a Pirates Bryan Reynolds City Connect jersey shortly after moving to Pittsburgh but in my entire life I had never owned a Red Sox jersey until this past winter

It's better to be lucky than good. Wong is neither.

I don’t understand why he gets at least one start a week. 🤦‍♂️

The race to the bottom is in high gear. The O's won tonight. Just three games out of last now.

This team is getting really really old. So easy to hate, year after miserable year. Something really major has to change.

Explain it to me.

Narvaez can’t catch every game; no catcher can.  The backup is going to get 1-2 starts per week.  That’s true on every team.  Narvaez is already showing signs of some fatigue.

Wong is having a horrible year and you’ll  get no argument from me on possibly upgrading from him, but he’s what they have right now and he is going to play a couple times a week.

Attendance 35,719--3000 the Fenway average for this season.  What a disaster for all those paying customers.

The Sox have scored a measly, no good, lowdown rotten 16 runs in these 6 straight losses.  Of course, they're missing Bregman, Raffy, Casas, and the good Duran of 2024.   And Cora has started 4 rookies (Narvaez, Campbell, Mayer, and Anthony) this season.

In the Sox 6 straight wins which ended just 10 days ago, the Sox scored 1 more run, a total of 17,  than they scored in the 6 losses.  And Devers played in all 6 of those wins.  I

n the current 6 losses, the Sox pitching has given up 38 runs.  In the 6 straight wins, they have up 8 runs total.  I hasten to add that Crochet, Chapman, Bello, and Giolito were all good to superb in both series.

Can their be any doubt that bigger problem is with the pitching?

I guess I’m just old school and remember the days when they did play everyday. But most guys did and pitchers went 7-8 innings. We sure seem to get Story every day.

Catching is way more demanding physically than any other position except pitcher, and teams carry 13 pitchers but just 2 catchers.  I think the ideal is maybe catching 2/3 of the games although 3/4 is possible.  Right now Narvaez is at 2/3.  Last year Connor Wong caught 99/162, 61%.

Here's something else.  None of the top 15 defensive catchers in MLB has caught more than 2/3 of his team's games.

Not surprising when the most consistent thing the Sox are capable of doing is going on the IL.

Too true.  spotrac says the Sox payroll for active players is $105M.  Another $73M is on the IL and about $14M is for players not on the roster--like Pedey.

That’ll happen when you trade your best hitter in the midst of a 6 game winning streak!

I honestly don’t think the trade made much of a difference. We were already going nowhere. Injuries have played a large role in this.

All of us are pretty frustrated at watching this team suck for four years running. It’s hard not to be very negative. Losing is getting very very old .

The only part of me that wants to go is for Jarren Duran. I have a feeling I won’t be getting to see him in person in a Sox uniform too many more times…

yep. the morons in the FO will undoubtedly trade the most exciting player on the team for third rate prospect or a broken-down, pitcher that won't be able to pitch for another year and a half.

If you don’t think trading Devers made this team much much worse, I don’t know what to tell you.

also we went 1-2 against giants with Devers. Lol

Without Devers, Story and Duran are the only starters to have started 100 games in a season more than once.

Bregman and Yoshida might actually help this squad.  Plus bring up Campbell. Hamilton isnt the answer at 2b, and Toro (.366 OPS since June 13) isnt either.  Might as well at least give a legitimate chance to the player with the future…

Note to Giants: If you're not winning with Devers now, you're gonna be real disappointed in September where historically Devers usually disappears.

When I was out there last weekend, I told every Giants fan who asked me about the trade the same thing: A year from now, most of them will hate him. Disappears when it matters most

Doesn't seem fair.  In 26 playoff games Devers has a .955 OPS, 8 HR and 26 RBI.

What a stupid take...The Sox were on a high, winning, you know what you should want as a fan when Devers was hastily dealt while Bregman on injured list. So wallowing about how bad the Sox are and then saying Devers won't make a difference for Giants--sorry he made a difference for Sox as a consistent run producer. What he does for Giants has zippo effect on the Sox...what he did for Sox and the bad clubhouse effect he had on the team--so he had to go right?...yeah, right, the whole stupid narrative. Breslow is a an all-time joke as GM, his rookie mistakes and his admission of poor communication....that just adds to how idiotic his business move on Devers (unload the contract) was. At the time of the trade, the Sox were without a doubt playing their best baseball of the season. And Breslow killed the '25 team in its tracks.

Exactly his point!

The Giants with Devers are now so bad, they couldn’t even sweep the Red Sox!  I mean, come on.  Even the Angels did that…

Is that a joke?

My guess is that the Jays will sweep US , not the other way around

Geez, back off.....are you  telling me that had we swept the Jays, we're not right back in it?

I didn't say anything about we can do it.......I'm trying to put a cheer into what is turning out to be another horrible season. Put me on ignore.
