I don’t like Weissert at all but I guess it’s just me.

No reason to love Weissert.  He blew this one up with help from Bregman.

A Grand Slam in the 9th could have tied this game, LOL, until that 8th run.  Now it's harder

This team could still provide us with a lot of happiness or it could provide us with a lot of humor.

Going to Fenway 1-6 is more a probability than a possibility.

Playing catch-up early is not what you want. What a joke. The team with all the issues like the Yankees already 3-0.

Some positives from the game - Whitlock is back, he looks awesome this year. Duran has had some really great swings today, 2 line drive opposite field hits and also lined out deep to left once. Some solid ABs from Campbell

the bad - what the f*** is wrong with Rafael Devers? He drew two walks but his timing still looks horrible. Newcomb sucks but that’s expected and the Defense was pretty bad.

a lot needs to be cleaned up with this team, especially offensively. Devers, Story, Rafaela, Casas and Wong all look absolutely lost at the plate.

If Devers gets a hit in his next AB, he can add 50 points to his BA.   and help his .174 OPS too.

I do think the Sox overall handling of the Bregman -3B-DH situation has been a big part of Devers mentality so far,    but no accounting for the physical failure to hit the ball well.

The 9th inning rally is rendered pointless by the s*** pitching in the bottom 8th.

ESPN predicted the Sox would finish 84-78. I thought they were way low on the wins. Now I'm not so sure.

Fire the hitting coaches, for starters.  I don't see how they can be doing a good job when the hitters are acting like wind turbines so much of the time.

Wind turbines are supposed to kill birds, but they didn't seem to have any effect on the Orioles,

If you're right, Devers needs to grow up.  He's getting paid more than he is worth--$313.5M thru 2032 or 2033.  He may like playing 3b, but he's demonstrably a liability there.  DH is the right position for him now with gold glover Bregman available.   Bregman's lifetime OPS is .847, but it's been around .800 for the last 3 seasons.

I personally don't like the DH, but it's now legal in both the AL and the NL, so it's stupid not to put a good bat there.

Devers went through a shorter streak like this last season where he couldn’t time anyone’s fastball.  I had assumed that it had to do with his shoulder issues.

I saw Orioles broadcast and they said last season, starting pitching was 7th in league and bullpen 22nd. I hope that they didn't concentrate much on it in off-season not bite us in the butt.

I would not put to much into the Fact that Ref Man is in the lineup today, and get his 1st AB of the season. Most likely he’ll play more than not against LHP, but that doesn’t mean Abreu won’t see some AB against LHP either.

Abreu will get plenty ABs vs LHPs, much like last year, but I don't expect him to start more than 6 games vs LH'd starter- like last year.

6 out of 43 games seems about what I expect in 2025. If he plays more, it probably won't be at ref's expense.

It's great that Whitlock is pitching well. They need to really manage his healthy. Campbell would be a great #2 hitter behind Duran at some point. Don't want to make that adjustment just yet though.

Wong is really rough up there and has a backup that is much better behind the plate. More Narvaez please!

I was thinking the same thing on Campbell up 2nd, at some point.

L Duran

R Campbell

R Bregman

L Devers

L Casas

R Story (L Anthony w no Rafaela?)

L Abreu- R Refsnyder

R Wong

R Rafaela (Mayer w no Story?)

You tend to steal a lot of my ideas.

They replaced Burnes with Morton. Considering the core position players they have, it's somewhat odd they haven't gone hard for a big pitcher.

Considering that they just got new ownership who were going to invest in the ballclub... Very weird.
