Boras thinks he redeemed himself with the Soto contract.  But Soto would of gotten anyone paid.  I don't think the players necessarily deserve this but it would be nice to see Boras fall on his face at the end of the offseason yet again.

Yeah, I agree. He's the biggest (and loudest) advocate against a signing window in the winter too.

Which I can't help but feel the sport would benefit hugely from, by having everyone's eyes on it during that period. Not to mention it would be fun!

The downside of course is that we as a fan base would have a lot more time to then be furious with our ownership.

But he still keeps getting hired by most of the big names.

I will assume that he signs a deal before then. At worst, he should re-sign with the Sox as a reliever on a one year deal.

At $15-21M?

Sure? Maybe he wants to hold out and see if a pitcher goes down with an injury and someone else gives him a deal? IDK?

We already do that from Thanksgiving on anyway.

I can't see the Sox paying him that much, even for the much-prized 1 year deal.

We passed on...

$18 x 4 Scott

$13 x 3 Holmes

$11 x 3 Hoffman

$11 x 2 Estevez & Minter

$13M x 1 Yates

$7.5M x 2 Y Garcia

He might be better than some of these guys, but $15M to $21M?

Yates is older and can't start if there's an injury. All the others are multi-year deals.

Well, if Pivetta gets $21.1M/1, that's about the same as Estevez and Minter got for 2 years.

They can't start if someone goes down.

I like to think the fanbase can be counted on to come in earlier than that.

I see the fanbase in general as the embodiment of the Bastards of Boston podcast.

So, July 13th.

While I hope (and expect) we get our pick for Pivetta, I wouldn't be against him coming back on a reasonable contract as long as it is solely in the bullpen.

Nope. Definitely not.

That’s the rate if he becomes one of those lockdown closers….

Jansen got $16m x 2, so yes.

Several, probably.

No comps.

The big name players obviously still favor him, but these last 2 offseasons might raise a few doubts.

Having the most players as clients does not make you the "best," and what determines who is the "best?"

Maxing dollars? (How do we know he got more than someone else might have gotten?)

Getting the client what he wants? (I see countless examples where his clients seemed to get screwed while he attempted to max out their take.)

Boras has the biggest clients, biggest contracts, biggest commissions.  He's the undisputed #1.

Evaluating and comparing skills of player agents?  LOL, not even I will venture into that rabbit hole.

OK, so who's better and why?  The onus is on you to support your case.

Has to be JB, man.  In the first 4 movies, at least.  After that things got a little inconsistent.

Boras is the Vladimir Putin of athletes’ representation!

Hardly anyone can even name other player agents - I mean real names of individuals, not names of agencies - without running to Google.
