In his last 37 PAs Dalbec has 1 hit and 24 Ks. Bad ratio.

He’s not a major leaguer. That ship sailed in 2021.

I think he’s worse than Hamilton and Reyes…

If you gave me 37 PA vs MLB pitching, I would only get one fewer hit and 13 more Ks. I should not be that close to any hitter…

It's sad. Dalbec is just another poster boy for how hard it is to hit MLB pitching.

He should have been DFAd months ago. It’s not even a risk. No one is going to claim him…

Now that's an indictment. Poor Bobby.

Same here. I still think my only shot at making contact would be against a knuckleballer.

Point?

Duran has worked out offensively but he’s simply not a good outfielder. I’ve been advocating moving Duran for pitching for months.

O’Neill-Rafaela-Anthony could be the future…

Why? Because Duran in LF is not so bad defensively and looks to be way ahead of Rafaela on offense. His net value looks to be greater than Rafaela.

Yes, the best defensive alignment would be O'Neill, Rafaela & Anthony, left to right, but I'd prefer Duran, Anthony, O'Neill with Rafaela/Abreu as back-ups when O'Neill or someone else gets hurt.

It's crazy though, in spring games he did OK as usual. Kind of like the Singing Frog thing.

But yeah, the verdict is now more than in.

You'd probably have to go back to late 2012 to find a Sox lineup as bad as this.

Maybe this comes closest, but is not as bad...

8/19/20: Dugo, Pillar, Devers, Bogey, Moreland, Vaz, JBJ, Lin, Peraza

8/10/20: Pillar, Dugo, JD, Bogey, Chavis, Plawecki, Peraza, JBJ, Arauz

This is close:

9/6/20: Munoz, Vaz, Bogey, JD, Plawecki, Chavis, JBJ, Dalbec, Peraza

Trying to treat that year as nonexistent for our team. Nice digging though.

what I'd give to have Bogey, Plawecki, and Vaz even. Yikes

Well, many felt all winter that 2024 was another tank season. Some still do. Perfectly fair comparing tank seasons to each other…

It's the first full throttle tank job. We're breaking new ground.

Bring back Brian Daubach, 4-time 20 HR/70 RBI guy...

He’s over 50 now. Why not just re-animate Zombie Jimmie Foxx?

I told you before that it’s your fault for assuming “full throttle” meant forward…

Right, September callup lineups...but this is this early in the season..this is significant. And indictment on Sox roster.

The Sox have three starting infielders and one utility infielder injured. Please show me one competent lineup from any team in MLB history under those conditions…

Right they signed the RAF Man to a $50M+ ext to be a backup.🙈🤭

I mean, the Twins have a lineup with Manny Margot hitting cleanup and Willi Castro batting 5th. And they only have TWO injured infielders. The Sox have twice as many…

Man did you ever climb on board the O'Neill Express...

Last year it was the Gallup Express, and earlier it was the Chapman Express, and he loved the JBJ trade bringing him back to Boston too. Now it’s the O’Neill Express. All that didn’t happen, or shouldn’t have happened, or won’t happen.

Here’s the thing.

The Sox have finished last 3 times in the last 4 seasons, and many are predicting they will again this year. And you’re criticizing me for suggesting moves they won’t make? Like the moves they do make are so perfect, complete and completely defensible.

I didn’t realize you were so on board with this team coming in last. I guess it explains why you disappear during stretches when they play well.

But - crazy thought - maybe “this team won’t do that” isn’t the valid criticism you seem to think it is. Unless you like this team failing, which is a theory with increasing support…

Indeed, and when we suggest possible moves, we often know there is close to a zero % chance it happens. We don't make suggestions for the GM to see and consider.

I could make more contact than all of yas, if I got 50 PAs in MLB: contact with my leg, contact with my back, contact with my arm, and contact with my noggin. I'd be an on-base machine, because I could never get out of the way of an inside pitch before it drilled me. Then again, I'd probably never make it to 50 PAs... but my OBP would rock!

You are on target Old Red.

If you can't provide Rafaela with major league experience this year on a bad team, then when?

You f***ing bite the bullet and let him bat ninth and play him. He's the Dave Conception of the Reds in the 70's. Unfortunately the rest of the team is not as good as the Big Red Machine but so what? You play him.

Be mindful that we are 0-3 vs AL East. Unless we go .500 vs them, we're not ready to compete for the playoffs. PERIOD.

This is the year to find out who are the keepers and who are the pretenders.

We all know O'Neill is never going to play 150+ games and Duran can sit vs many lefties, so it's not like Rafaela as the 4th OF'er means 200 PAs.

Last year, we were pretty set with Yoshida in LF, Duvall in CF and Dugo in RF (Turner at DH.) We ended up with this:

GS in OF

135 Dugo

84 Yoshida

79 Duvall

Our 4th through 9th OF'ers got 189 GS'd:

82 Duran

47 Ref

19 Abreu

18 Tapia

11 Rafaela

11 Kike (who might have been the FT CF'er had Story not got hurt)

We also don't know if Anthony will be up for all of 2025, or that he will be handed 155 starts in CF/RF.

When has Duran played 150 games plus?

So by me pointing out of all the bandwagons you’ve jumped on the past few years that didn’t happen, shouldn’t have happened, or won’t happen led you to the conclusion that I’m on board with the team coming in last?? Well if that’s the case then the people who are, or have been running the Red Sox who haven’t made of any of your suggestions except for your favorite JBJ trade that was a cluster in itself must feel the same way, so your criticism of me is also a criticism of them. Conspiracy theories you are great at, but there should be a statute of limitations on many things you can get wrong.

Ok here’s my question - would this be a better team with Chapman at 3b and Devers as 1b/DH? Would Gallo have been a better right field option than Bradley/Arroyo?

And those are two suggestions you made, that Red holds against you, because there is no way they could have happened. (Twisting what you say is another popular ploy.)

We all get things wrong.

Some admit it, others never do.

Some rarely, if ever, offer specific suggestion yet bash just about everything our GM does, and can brag about never being wrong.

That’s never been my point. The point is, and has been all along that the Red Sox, didn’t, and won’t do any of your suggestions, and has been all along. It’s just as simple as that. Would Chapman be a better 3B than Raffy? Yes. but the Red Sox were NEVER going to spend money to sign him, nor was all the changes that would have to be made going to happen either. We’ve already went through all this before when you suggested Chapman. IT DIDN’T happen.🙈🤭

So by saying it won’t happen holding it against him?Nothing twisted at all. Yes we all get things wrong, but NOBODY more than you.
