Sam Kennedy admits that 2024 Red Sox have ‘under-performed’

No, with the product you allowed to be put on the field, this is where we expected them to be. Ownership always pointing fingers at everyone else.

Sam apparently thought lowering the payroll would have a positive impact on results.

They are delusional or liars. Neither choice is flattering.

Sam spent all off-season perfecting the role of Squealer…

Agreed. Some might argue over-achieving. Some say they’re just achieving. Only Kennedy and his office mates think they are under-achieving…

Yeah, personally I think their record is self-explanatory. There is no mystery why they are in a death struggle with the .500 mark.

They have a rookie of the year candidate.

They have a dynamic defensive player who must learn the strike zone.

They have another athletic OF who is much improved dorm a year ago.

They have a second year catcher who is omproving. How is this team under achieving? Devers?

It's the owners and front office that have been underachieving going back to 2019.*

*Excluding Breslow who I am absolving completely at this point.

At a minimum, Breslow gets an INC grade. But the jury is out as to whether or not he is a powerless future scapegoat or a frontline co-conspirator...

I never liked John Henry. Even when the Sox were winning. The man just does not have any likable qualities. That is strictly my own opinion. You can have yours.

He's an ornery, stubborn prick, there can't be much doubt about it any more.

He was good for this franchise for a long time, but he’s become a detriment in recent years. I know very little of him personality wise…

An average defense would have given them 8 more wins last year so by doing nothing they wanted 8 more wins this year!

The franchise was good in spite of him.

He did hire good baseball people and largely let them do their thing. What current or former MLB owner does anything better than that?

He let Theo do his thing and let DD do his thing for a very short term. Otherwise, he hasn't really "let them do their thing."

He got rid of the best and one of the most popular players in the league in order to pocket more money.

This is the first time I have ever heard this.

As long as the Sox linger around the .500 mark the miser could care less. This team needs to hit rock bottom before anything positive will happen. Myself I have totally stopped watching them or caring about this team. i was once a very proud Red Sox fan but I could care less now the way this team is operating.

To me, that was a turning point. I can deal with trading Marco Scutaro to fit Cody Ross into the budget. I can even deal with replacing Craig Kimbrel with Colten Brewer. But not letting DD lock up Betts was just wrong…

Kennedy also said this BTW:

"we’ve suffered the loss of guys like Trevor (Story) and Triston (Casas) and Tyler O’Neill now going down. So, that’s not an excuse. It’s on us to stay healthy. That’s part of competing."

Every time he talks he breaks new ground in stupidity.

It’s the one thing every Sox fan agrees with.

Betts and Ruth.

As a still-superstitious Sox fan I find the historic parallels between the losses of Ruth and Betts to be a tad freaky. Mainly talking about the 'century apart' thing.

Indeed. It being all about money in both cases is the biggest similarity.

That and the fact that they were dispatched after great runs of success ending in 1918 and then 2018.

The 2021 team did do a lot better than the 1921 team, so there's that.

If Sam Kennedy were an egg-laying mammal, he'd spew duck-billed platitudes.

If he were a dog, he'd eat mowed grass to help himself regurgitate redundancies.

If he were a cat, we'd all be dodging hairballs.

Man you quit too soon.

Ruth’s last season for the Red Sox - 1919.

Betts’ last season for the Red Sox - 2019

In his last season with the Sox, Ruth hit 29 HRs and lead the league in runs scored. In his last season in Boston, Betts hit 29 home runs and lead the league in runs scored.

Also, in 1919 Ruth had a secretary named Betts. In 2019, Betts had a secretary named Ruth…

Don't look now but that GM Scrooge fired in 2019 has the best record in all of MLB

Phillies have had the easiest record in the MLB to date. They’ve played something like a weeks worth of games vs teams with a winning record.

I think they’re good, but they’re not the best team in MLB.

Also the Phillies are spending at levels Sox’ fans have never seen. Their current roster has 7 players making $20mill or more. The current Sox roster has two…

Hmmmm, 1921 and 2021 don’t seem too similar to me.
