But why do you have 11,000 posts in 2.5 years if it's a s***** forum?

I’ll admit that is to many, and to many tit for tat ones, but I was told for over 2 years that I was such a bad fan, because I criticized Bloom, and the Red Sox so much, and some called it bashing, but look at all the bashing that’s gone on by many on here the last few months, which is worse than what I had been saying about the Red Sox. Double standard maybe. I have said many times that I like to get as many opinions from as many different places as I can get, and yes god forbid sports talk shows.

I have just been authorized to post that this forum is open for all ideas and opinions . Preferably about baseball. Of course, there are restrictions as to the content. We all should know that much. " Trolling" is basically posting something to annoy and generate a response from another poster. This is something that nearly all of us are sometimes guilty of. It really is not a big deal unless you let it be. I am not in favor of banning anyone unless they cross the line of basic decency. If anyone, at any time, feels the need to put me unto " ignore" , feel free to do so. I can withstand the shame and disgrace of it all. Have a nice day.

Trolls are irritating to some because they were the first to wear pink or purple hair (from what I recall throwing up). My sister had a small collection of them.

I had a plastic Ratfink ring. That was a real frantic creature -- his red overalls sported a big gold R.F. to remind him. He may still be banned from all toy forums.

I was going to post: "Who said you were a bad fan" then figured out who you were referring to.

The last time there was a group of posters to get banned (2012?), those posters definitely deserved it. For the most part, when people have been banned here, they've gone above and beyond any tit for tat that either moon or Old Red subject us to.

Moon is a good poster, Old Red is annoying but fine. We need more people to post here, not less. Everyone here right now is pretty inoffensive honestly. Even Madstork, who's a true troll.

+1

The only really bad troll we've had here the last few years was Yankee fan "JDavis76" who started out as "Babe" on the Boston.com board.

Didn't Swihart's Ghost get banned, last year?

Someone else got banned for releasing personal information on certain posters, a few years back.

Then there was SBF, who as I recall wasn't really a troll, just a belligerent, abusive a-hole.

s*** man, I thought people just weren't ever banned here, because I thought for certain I was going to be a month ago when I completely lost my s***. Sorry about that.

Want more posters? Here's a hint: I long for the old Boston.com days. We had a core group of 20-25 posters who felt free to express themselves knowing that they weren't the most up-to-date fans but were more of a group of guys sitting around a table in a bar sharing opinions. They weren't concerned about being mocked or having another poster dig through the archives of baseball to find obscure facts to disprove their post. We were a congenial bunch.

Then toward the end of BDC and at the beginning of TalkSox a small group of 2-3 began to want to believe (and prove!) that they were the person I refer to as TSPOTB (The Smartest Poster On The Board) and things went rapidly downhill from there. You know who you are.

(and for the record, Moon is not one of those I refer to. His posts are sometimes long but they're factual and he's respectful of other's opinions even when he doesn't agree with them).

I still drop by occasionally and things haven't changed much since I realized that I'm (still) not up to the standards that the TSPOTB's expect.... so it's easier to stay away, and given the turnover I've seen here over the years it looks like I'm not alone.

I often wonder how personalities in here would clash in real life. Like, would Moon and Oldred have a fight to the death match? or, and I find this thought more flattering, do they unknowingly run into each other at bar and share drinks enthusiastically talking about the Red Sox all night.

Oldred makes him sound like a Lord of the Rings type character.

I made a peace offering two years ago to buy Moon a Sea Dog Biscuit at a Sea Dogs game, which i thought was a more than generous offer.

Pffft, if you really want to. As long as the LOSER buys the first round when it's all over.

Was it Fred that was the crazy bastard (and got banned?) He had a little cabal of posters that seemed inspired by him to act as big as *******s as possible around 2016 on. Christ the forum was a tough read back then. I took several years off and when I popped back in he was gone.

Why would you want to fight a bunch of old codgers? 'Cause I'm pretty sure that's what most of us are.

Fred was also on Sawxheads, the most toxic forum in the history of civilization.

When I met YOTN, I was just disappointed he didn’t look like a Star Trek character.

I always appreciated your posts, both here and at that other site. Even when we disagreed, you made good points and backed up your positions with supporting details.

I wish you'd post here, more, but I can understand wanting to avoid it.

Dewey-- I still owe you those SeaDogs tix I promised (Bell too, but I believe he lives way across the Bay somewhere). Covid sucked for socializing. (And no fear; I wouldn't know a Sox prospect or their xWAR if it bit me in the ass.). j

“According to people with an understanding of the arrangement between Epstein and the Red Sox, he was brought back into the fold, at least in part, due to Red Sox ownership privately acknowledging that they have, at times, not given the club the attention it has deserved in recent years as the FSG portfolio has rapidly grown.”

No s***.

I think you mean earlier, right?

I joined her in the Dreaded 2014, and He Who Shall Not Be Named was already gone from this forum, just like he was from BDC years earlier…

I was thinking about a few years AFTER the original purge in 2012. He was around for a bit longer than that until he had a deeply unhinged post about thunder.
