I can't believe moon is actually saying "Mediocrity is Nice" now.

But the Red Sox might be good in 2028, because of the farm crop, and he would be fine with that no matter how many losing last place finishes is along the way.

One thing Bloom is always credited for here is "rebuilding the farm." In your opinion, what is the short and/or long definition of that accomplishment?

Isn't overseeing amateur drafts and international signings one of the main duties of every GM/CBO? Presumably, that includes listening to scouts and player development departments about prospects and their rankings, and what they're willing to sign for.

Bloom hung onto all his best prospects, and never traded any for established big leaguers. The parent club didn't get better, but their kids had lots of good company. In comparison, Dave Dombrowski dealt lots of minor leaguers to turn his major league roster into a first-place club for three years.

Breslow said when he was hired he was ready to trade prospect capital to improve the Boston Red Sox. He still has the next three offseasons and maybe four summer deadlines to do that...

... unless the Sox are sold, and new owners are trying to keep up with new owners in Baltimore.

Bottom line farm rankings doesn’t guarantee success at the big leagues level, and the big leagues level is what’s most important.

His biggest prospect traded was Aldo Ramirez for Schwarber. That's it.

The vast majority of trades he made, involved a prospect or two. A few loo promising, but most do not.

I'd love to have Cora's true thoughts on this offseason right now.

There's a reason he hasn't signed an extension IMO.

I’m even more excited for the season now that ownership spent $3 billion in a PGA investment.

Well, you know RS players always get to start their golf season at the end of September.

Half the playoff field from last year begs to differ. But that's not the issue. This is the Boston Red Sox, not the Boston Pirates or Royals.

But not having a good farm does guarantee failure at the big league level eventually...

Wait till you see the investment in the Vegas NBA team!

Not necessarily. You have to have a base, or foundation first. The farm is not a foundation, but an addition. Raffy Bogey, and Mookie should be the foundation now, and then additions can be added by the farm, and elsewhere. Yes those 3 were from the farm, but what was they added to when they came up?

Very few teams have ever won a ring without having several homegrown stars that were once prospects.

The farm that Theo built, in part from all the comp picks he was able to acquire, was the foundation for the last 3 rings we won, including 2018- 2 CBOs removed from his tenure.

The farm he inherited and some younger players allowed him to build the 2004 winner, as well, but that team was largely built by spending.

John Henry will pop out of nowhere and pretend like he's cared the whole time if the Sox actually ever manage to win another World Series under his tootiledge.

Credit should be given in that situation, but I will despise him for how he's handled this team recently, and the seeming lack of any accountability and inability to communicate and empathize with the fan base that has made him much richer.

First time in several seasons ( 15+?) I have unsubscribed to MLB.com/Red Sox broadcast . Just not worth the time to watch this team daily over the season . I can get highlights/lowlights in recaps on the website and ESPN. Good luck to the guys because they will probably need it.

Maybe just read Game Threads the next morning for the humor value.

Hey, according to one poster, reading the box score counts as an "eye test."

I could never bring myself to stop watching, but I don't blame you for the choice.

Show the post where it says looking at a box score counts as an eye test. More FAKE NEWS that you have come up with several times. Wash, rinse, and repeat. You try to come across as a Red Sox super fan, but you bailed in 2022. You also with a straight face said you wasn’t a Bloom Guy. No credibility at all. Could never bring yourself to stop watching, but you sure can bail.🙈🤭🤮.

Any John Henry sightings lately? The man is more reclusive than ever.

He might be a recluse, but his investment portfolio keeps growing.

And at this point the Red Sox May be just added value to that portfolio, and not much else. Playoffs? Did someone say playoffs?

The only caveat is that you can watch the MiLB teams now. The POR team should be fun to watch this Spring.

It wasn’t box scores; it was HIGHLIGHTS…

It's all it ever has been.

It was always value, but I think up until the last 5-10 years JH actually cared what that value looked like on the field even to the point of showing up on the Felger, and Massorotti show to tell his side of how LL ran the Red Sox.

Now it's like he's on a mission to cultivate an image with Sox fans as a stubborn, miserly old hermit.
