I'm never believing the line "so and so is holding up the market" again. This is just how the baseball offseason is, hurry up and wait, slow slow slow, false rumors, false hope.

The market has changed big time in the past few years, and it’s a whole lot different game now. Did anyone ever think Bogey would get $280M last year.

We've already been through all the "trade for a starting pitcher' scenarios, and none of them seem to be slam-dunks either.

The next Pedro Martinez trade just ain't out there.

Ah, but have you heard about Edward Cabrera?

Teoscar: 26 HR last year

Drury: 26 HR last year

O'Neill: 9 HR last year

Yeah "it's possible" they could combine for 57 HR's in the same year at some point.

Teoscar could be a beast at Fenway, and O'Neil might hit 25-30 if he manages to stay healthy, but taking the medium and betting on 15 woulndn't be the worst bet. That trio is also a lot younger.

I might be inclined to say:

O'Neill/Teoscar/Drury > Verdugo/Turner/Duvall.

True enough, and this is the worst time to be so in need of SP with so many help wanted signs out there throughout MLB.

I thought this was supposed to be a great offseason for the Sox since they had money to play with and lots of available pitchers? Are you telling me that other teams need those guys too??? What the hell?

Yes, I have to admit I'm surprised that to this point they have done absolutely zero to improve the team. The team is worse on paper in fact. If the season started today we'd be about a 70 win team.

I'm not sure why waiting things out is such a great strategy. That's what Bloom did last year, and the result was Corey Kluber as the Opening Day starter.

In his ZiPS projections on November 29 FanGraphs columnist Dan Szymborski wrote that "The Red Sox look like an 80–86 win team or so."

Also, just going by one stat is a horrible way to determine if a team is getting better or worse. We used to have a similar argument about Renfroe and replacing the 96 RBI he had.

And that's before adding Teosar Hernandez, Brandon Drury, Jordan Montgomery and Lucas Giolito. They could be a 95 win team.

I think it included Verdugo though! 92 win team!

it's not hurry up and wait if you are a competitive team, run by a competent front office -like the Dodgers, for instance.

I'm more of a Frankie Montas guy.

I’m on board with him, too, I just don’t think he’s underrated as much as he is simply plain old absent…

Outside of on here who said the Red Sox had money to play with? I asked a year ago when one poster on here kept saying how much money the Red Sox had to spend, and I asked the question then on who in the Red Sox organization said they would spend up to the CBT. They didn’t.

But they did spend pretty close to the line

Now everyone is editing for Snell to set the market…

How about the underrated Naoyuki Uwasawa? Rays are showing interest.

Multi-year offering to Brandon Woodruff?

Dumpster dive for harmony fave Chris Flexen?

1. Full Throttle (Tom)

2. They went under the CBT to reset so that they could go back over, see #1

3. They hired a new CBO and declared that the intentions weren't playoffs but a World Series contender (Sam)

At this point, I’m fine. I know nothing about Uwasawa. He any good?

For Snell to set the market for who? He and Montgomery are the only 2 starters left projected to get $100 mill or more.

Ah but they never said which World Series.

Little League World Series? World Series of Poker? These might both still be in play…

How about some of Cora's comments, back in those exciting days when we thought he had a voice in the team's direction.

And don’t you think that bothers Giolito, Imanaga, Clevinger, etc.? They want $100mill, too…

So Cora has no say, either? I thought he got Bloom fired…

There's really no indication of any market-setting or major inflation going on this year, outside of Yamamoto, who was a unicorn.

A number of guys have signed for less than projected, in fact.

The only man with say seems to be the stone-faced principal shareholder.

21 under by 5

20 under by 9

And if he signs tomorrow, Montgomery will be holding up the market.

Hey, remember how selfish Ohtani was for not signign earlier? and Yama? what about these guys??????

It would be like bragging the Red Sox had "the sixth-best offense" in the entire league -- based on runs -- when those of us who watched all the games know how overrated their O was...

... six games when Boston scored 12 or more vs. 46 games scoring 2 or less; tallies don't always equal rallies (Sox lost one when they scored 12, won three when scoring 2 or less).

This may be true, but it's not like other teams have games were they score an absurd amount of runs. The offense also slumped all out once down the stretch. Hard to be motivated when you lose. The team could be significanly better by just improving the D and P.

All 3 of these means completely absolutely nothing. Once again outside of on here who in the Red Sox organization said the Red Sox went under the CBT to reset so they could go back over?🙈
