I'm tired of Kennedy, but without knowing who had a strong hand in some of the most egregious mistakes over the years, I'm not sure who and who should not go.

Like others here, I think Romero should stay, but I don't really know what his influence has been for good and bad.

Does anyone know?

Many of the guys we are blaming for the current state of the team were also here for the 2016-2018 era.

Kennedy is like Grima Wormtongue for John Henry. He needs to go. He played a large role in the souring relationship between DD and ownership. When DD didn't want Sammy in baseball meetings anymore, Sammy complained to JH and DD was fired. This was reported by McAdam a few days ago.

Because they didn’t. Maybe Bloom wasn’t sought after as much as people think, but only one who would take the job.

But, when you say "They did not interview anyone else," you are the one making it sound like he was the one "sought after."

You should add the part about "nobody else wanted to interview" for your point to mean what it seems you want it to mean.

Only one interviewee for the position so far: Eddie Romero. Sox still looking for others. Just due diligence?

Just hire Romero. The man DFAd Kaleb Ort. He’s better than Captain Ahab now. “Get outta my way, Peg Boy! I see a whale that needs killin’.”

He’s trying to make it sound like no one wanted the job and like no one wanted Bloom but doesn’t know how to walk that line…

Exactly. This is a guy who gets it.

More cake!! Less Ort!! That’s how you build a baseball team!

It was 2AM and the lights came on at the bar. Henry and Bloom were the last two left. May as well go home together.

Mutual. Though Bloom was most likely suffering from whisky dick and couldn't perform afterwards. Sad!

So after that did Bloom write his next book about catching?

And is this going too far? Do we need to be forcibly stopped?

I doubt Boston would be in better shape if they didn’t for Dombrowski. The budget was fairly maxed out when he left…

unfortunately, we'll never know. IMHO, JH should have sucked it up, signed Mookie, and dealt with the budget for a few years. after all, what's $40-50M to a multi-billionaire, right?

My keyboard should have been impounded 15 years ago.

Should have given DD a chance to clean up the mess while telling him to get the farm back in order.

At Last Call, Chaim grabbed a half-finished beer from someone else's vacated table... Henry hired him on the spot.

And while we’re at it, let’s tell Gordon Ramsey to go get some McDonalds for the crew…

How would DD have handled the Betts trade mandate, which he apparently came close to doing during 2019 AND also a massive cut to the budget for 2020 with small incremental upticks in winter spending for the following 2-3 winters?

I think he saw the writing on the wall, and that's why the friction happened.

The part about no trading top prospects for 5+ years might have been the final straw.

There is a good chance DD or any other GM might have done better than Bloom- both with farm and 40 man roster building and MLB team success from 2021-2023, but it's hard to know.

Here are the top ranked prospects (soxprospects.com's ranking when traded):

16. Jay Groome summer '22 (Rosier)

9. Aldo Ramirez summer '22 (Schwarber)

Unranked T Lakins Jan 2020 (J Springs)

9. CJ Chatham fall 2019 (PTBNL)

6. Beeks summer '18 (Nate)

19. Ty Buttrey summer '18 (Kinsler)

Unranked S Espinal summer '18 (Pearce)

16. S Anderson + GSantos summer '17 (Nunez)

Only Beeks was top 8 going back along time.

You have to go back to the winter of 2016-2017 to find a top 5 prospect traded by the Sox:

1. Moncada, 5. Kopech + 7. Basabe (Sale)

10. Dubon (Thornburg)

July 2016: #3 Espinoza (Pomeranz)

Nov 2015: 4. Margot, 6. JGuerra, 13. L Allen (Kimbrel)

In the hypothetical scenario of DD staying, he would be allowed to spend more than Bloom was, of course. In this hypothetical scenario, it's Henry's thinking and decision-making that's different. Everything else flows from that.

That beer definitely had rhypnol in it.
