Will Kim Ng interview with the Sox? That's the buzzworthy question right now.

Do the Sox want her? She's allegedly not analytical, more in the DD realm.

I'd be fine with that, but it's not much of an image of "change" for the masses down on "the corner."

To anyone who would think Romero wouldn't be much of a "change" do we really think any of them have much of a clue of who Romero is and how great he has been in our organization? I mean, conversely, a lot of the same people here for Bloom were here under DD too.

I got no problem aggressively going into surgery and cutting out the cancer, but it really feels a lot of people wont' be happy unless we throw the baby out with the bath water. Sometimes the kids are fine.....the water is just dirty.

Where did Bloom’s analytical ways get you? Where did DD get you? Take out DD’s bad contracts to Price, and Frail.

I do think most fans down on the corner have no clue, and that is why they would just see this as no major change made. They jump to conclusions before a GM first day on the job. We've seen that here with one poster, in particular.

If Romero gets upped and Cora doesn't wear Overdog shirts, the Sox will have collaborators with past organizational success in Boston.

As long as everyone realizes there won't be any major upheavals on the roster or on the diamond. Unless one considers trading Verdugo or losing Turner to free agency is major for a last place club.

The best we can expect are a few upgrades in the starting rotation.

The least we should expect is to have more patience with the younger players transitioning into the big league line-up...

Agreed.

I no longer have any expectations the team will chneg course and add what is needed to build a true and serious contender. It may or may not ever happen, again.

I hope we do, but hope has gone to the wayside 2 straight years.

The Sox have already decided to keep many longtime front office employees -- peeps already near or at the top of the org, like BOH, Romero and Racquel Ferreira.

Does it make sense to bring in another outsider with no Boston experiences to boss them around?

Also worth considering: if it's Ng, how does that dynamic affect Ferreira or her colleagues, who may feel RF's seniority qualifies her to be first choice to run things. How about a Ng CBO, Racquel GM combo?

And you left out that the one poster who jumped to a conclusion the day Bloom was hired was 100% RIGHT. How convenient for you.🙈🤭🙈.

Ask this question to JH, not me. I'm not the one doing the hiring.

I didn't hear anyone say it was a 100% right hire. Who was it?

Go look and get back to me...

If JH hadn’t played Johnny Low Ball with Lester than most likely Price doesn’t get signed at twice the price.

Red just said he was 100% right that it was a bad hire.

Rock Em Sock Em Referees Inc.

So? I’ve said that when he was hired.

Ignoring DD’s bad contracts is basically saying “ignore what DD does wrong and he does everything right.”

Bloom was a flop, but it wasn’t the analytical approach. The Dodgers and the Astros have both enjoyed non-stop success with former Tampa front office analytical types…

Why would Miami be a better job? Please provide a few baseball reasons (not weather, food, etc).

From Tuesday's MLB Trade Rumors (with a link within the link): "The Sox are also on the hunt for a GM but reporting indicates it’s not the most attractive job in the league, for various reasons."

There have been no rumors about RF, just Eddie. How does RF feel about that? Kind of interesting IMO.

This says nothing as to why Miami would be a better job than Boston, as usual.

The Brock Star is campaigning for the job give it to him.

Either way it’s a bad look that so many potential applicants are declining interviews for the job for the Red Sox.

Wrong. Re-read it.

...one poster who jumped to a conclusion the day Bloom was hired was 100% RIGHT

Right. Read it yourself. I was the poster who jumped to a conclusion the day Bloom got hired, and I was right in my conclusion. What’s so hard about that? Over analyzing, and wrong again.

I don't need to remind anyone about who the blind squirrel running up a broken clock is. You do that enough.

I think we just didn't hear about the declines previously.

What’s your excuse for not seeing it?🤭Or the Kike resigning where you said more than once that the Red Sox couldn’t have found anyone better than Kike for $10M. What’s your excuse on that one?

It’s nothing new.

Billy Beane was offered the job and even announced as the new GM when Henry took over but famously backed out. Turned out to be one of the best things to happen to the Red Sox in team history, since they then just moved on the a little known internal option in Epstein.

Really how many external hires for GM/CBO have there been in recent team history? Really just Dombrowski and Bloom, right? (I suppose Mike Port, if you count interim guys.)

If the goal is to, to paraphrase Keith Law, start acting like the Red Sox again, shouldn’t start with hitting from within?

Edited by notin
Dan Duquette was another prominent external hire.

Or maybe there just wasn’t that many, and these are definitely different situations where the comings, and goings are more frequent, and the recent restructuring of the holdovers are not that appealing.
