Fans have no skin in the game other than their emotional attachment to the laundry.

How ever the owners and players wish the divide the pie is really not my concern. I will make my decision whether to support a team, watch its telecasts, or attend it's games based on things I can control.

If MLB wishes to price itself out of existence is not something I can control.

If they make bad choices and go the way of horse racing and prize fighting two sports which were arguably once more popular than MLB, then I will just find other sports to follow. I think that is the way of the world.

Life will go on.

I agree. I used to really love watching the Patriots. Over time, I really grew to despise Bob Kraft. I think he's just a scumbag and can't really get behind him at all. All the concussion nonsense that has gone on in the NFL really pushed it over the edge as well. I couldn't tell you the last time I sat down and watched a regular season Pats game on a Sunday afternoon.

As far as the 2024 Sox are concerned, I seem to have gone through all the stages of grief, and now accept that they're probably going to suck again and that the owners don't really care that much about it.

There's certainly nothing any of us can do about it, other than voice our opinions.

It's interesting because I've been following the A's drama and there is a split in the fanbase with some fans wanting to go to Opening Day and others saying that everyone should boycott and anyone who gives Fischer money isn't a true fan. If I was in their shoes, I'd have no idea how I'd feel. A despicable owner who s*** all over the franchise for two decades is moving the beloved franchise and you only have a limited amount of time to see your team in your hometown. Do you just give up your fandom? Do you root for a few more years? Rage against the dying of the light?

The A's drama should be easy for fans. Go if you want to. That franchise is leaving whether you go or not...

"Go If You Want To" could even be used as a promotional slogan.

From the team to the fans, or from the fans to the team?

Like those old bumper stickers in Atlanta.

“Go Braves!! And take the Falcons With You!”

Obviously when both teams were struggling heavily…

There has been some criticism of the Sox repeated drafting of middle infielders. I present today’s starting defensive alignment for the San Diego Padres

1b: Jake Cronenworth, former shortstop

2b: Xander Bogaerts, former shortstop

3b: Tyler Wade, former shortstop

SS: Ha-Seung Kim, current shortstop

LF: Jurickson Profar, former shortstop

CF: Jackson Merrill, former shortstop

RF: Fernando Tatis, former shortstop

DH: Manny Machado, former shortstop

They just need JT Realmuto behind the plate…

They have the worst record in baseball!

I watched today's game -- Padres are so bad, they let in the winning run on a ground ball that literally went right through the glove of their converted first baseman.

But when he played 2b there, he did so as a former shortstop.

So technically, he is a former former shortstop…

The Dodgers looked a tad rusty, too. And for $70mill, one might think Ohtani would learn some basics about baserunning. Or do you have to pay more to get that aspect of his game?

The concussion stuff ended my interest in the sport, too. Can't remember when I last watched a Football game.

Just buy some licensing rights to "Roam" by the B-52's, change one word in the lyrics, and start that massive radio campaign!!

Yeah, but all 4 of his big clients getting stiffed like this has to make you wonder.

I'm no Boras fan but it wouldn't surprise me if there was a back room agreement among the owners. I suspect the same about Bauer, Urias and Clevinger not getting signed.

That would be very surprising.

I'm always on the side of the players getting more money over the owners, but I'm very glad Boras is getting a black eye over all this. He routinely holds the sport to ransom by keeping his players until the last moments so that panicking teams often overpay. It's a legit tactic but I don't think it's good for the game.

The sport is losing relevance every year. They need to have a set period of free agency. It would create a buzz around the sport in the quiet winter months when players start tumbling off the board, and might force teams (ahem! The Sox) into some action, knowing they need to get their strategies in place early.

The period after the lookout where there were multiple deals seemingly every hour was the most exciting time Baseball has had in a long time.

I lost interest in American Football years ago. I can not sit through a game. Truth is I find it intensely boring. Rugby Union and Rugby League are a whole other matter. The recently concluded Six Nations Series was tremendous. Every game was exciting. The NFL by comparison is like watching paint dry.

Fake A's fan. ^

AI post.

Remember, if a device secretly records someone posting something scandalous, he can always claim it wasn't really him, but AI fabricated. Just like this post.

Oakland players should just wear new jerseys and caps that call them the AIs; that way, if they suck, they can claim it wasn't really them...

Ouch! :D:D:D

This fan of another AL West team hopes to be there to watch the reigning World Series champion Texas Rangers.

They already field a team the same way the court system fields juries.

Some Oakland resident checks his mail, sees the summons, and realizes he's playing RF that night.

A's have had no problem sucking for a long time now. They would need to win the next 506 games to have an all time .500 record. It took a literal act of God for them to win their last World Series in '89. They only ever won one 5 or more game series while Beane was GM.

It's a team of "remember that guy" and random name generator.

Eduardo Rodriguez heading to IL with lat strain

Why can't we sign guys like that?

Rumor has it he worked out with Chris sale this offseason

Posted
I guess Sale is giving ERod pointers on how to spend time on the IL.

i guess we will see if Sale ends up missing much time this year. Sox didn't need him anyway given all the SP depth they have now

Would you rather have Sale for 2024 only? Or Vaughn Grissom for the next 5 seasons?
