Wil Myers come home!

How long have we wanted to trade for him?

The only time I ever wanted Myers was in a one-for-one deal for Price before the 2020 season…

If those are now our options I would simply pass. None of them move the needle near enough. I would probably take a flier on Paxton again on something like a 1 yr 5-7 million dollar deal since he has proven to be decent when healthy. The 2024 Sox are going nowhere anyway so we may as well stick with the options we already have and then draft another SS next June to build up our mighty farm system

I don't think he's getting less than 8 AAV. Nick Martinez signed for 2/26 for some reason. My guess for Paxton is 2/18.

There is no way Henry approves more than a 1 yr deal for Paxton

He'll be getting the deal elsewhere then.

Sox will do the do si do with other FA's, but just end up throwing Houck in the rotation again. :(

One of the accusations against Clevinger was that he choked a woman. Someone is bound to notice that "throttle" can also mean "choke", leading to great hilarity...

This explains everything! Tom Werner wasn't lying last fall, after all.

What he really meant was that the Red Sox would fully choke the entire offseason by not acquiring any good pitchers to upgrade the starting rotation.

Not sure exactly what your message meant but I think I agree. A low risk SP signing or 2 but nothing more.

Maybe can’t find any takers?

Not for what they were hoping to get back.

At least he knows they put him on the trading block. :P

Clevinger would be an OK get, but the DV stuff would not go over well with a lot of people.

It would be looked on as yet another PR gaffe by our doofus front office.

Well seeing as how the organization feted scummer Jerry Remy, I think they'll be ok with this guy.

The obvious solution is to sign Mike Lorenzen, coming off an All Star season. He might get more money than normal after last year, but you have to remember, he is also a RHH outfielder with a career OPS of .710, which is not much lower than the .724 Tommy Pham has posted over the last 3 seasons.

So in that respect, Lorenzen is a bargain!

Michael Clifton Lorenzen. Never heard of him?

Oh, that Michael Lorenzen. He hasn't even had a hit in four years. Terrible choice to be an OFer. Nice cleats though.

Is he a worse choice for an OF than Jorge Soler?

Besides why are you prioritizing baseball over money here? Lorenzen is two players for the price of one! His position on his Topps card is “BOGO”.

So what if he hasn’t had a hit in years?

The Reds letting him start a few games in CF in 2019 is pretty wild. Especially since they gave up that experiment the following year.

It's all the crime in Boston. It's a hellscape!

Also helps that Hicks likes Rice-A-Roni more than baked beans.

And it’s truly sad that my entire knowledge of San Francisco cuisine is limited to Rice-A-Roni…

According to Alex Speier, the Red Sox are making Mayer, Anthony and Teel off-limits in trade talks. (Duran, Rafaela, Bleis, Houck and others are not off-limits.)

Helps explain why no blockbuster trade is happening.

More from @alexspeier... doesn't look like the Red Sox have changed their stance on Blake Snell, Jordan Montgomery, or a rental like Corbin Burnes.

"While it hasn’t been ruled out entirely, sources continue to characterize the Sox as unlikely to make the sort of deep-end, long-term plunge needed to land lefthanders Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery, the top two free-agent starters left on the market... The Sox are open to deal-making, but there’s little sense they’ll push in the chips to land an established top-of-the-rotation starter either via trade or free agency. Further additions appear more likely to the middle or back of the rotation to improve depth and reliability."

For sure! I think he could fake it in LF better than Masa or Soler.

Jordan Luplow is another RHH outfield option that excites no one (but he does excel at hitting LHP).

The Sox could platoon Luplow in LF with Yoshida and platoon Refsnyder with Enmanuel Valdez at DH…
