Worst looking outfielder I can remember seeing for the Sox. First an error on the throw home--10 feet over Wong's glove--now two fumbles on a routine double into the corner.

Unless Bloom is fired right after the season, I think Cora will be gone one way or the other. Either Bloom will fire him or Cora will resign. They are definitely not on the same page as far as the team is concerned.

The Red Sox hitting coach is bad, the defensive coach is bad, the base running coach is bad, most of the players suck especially that head case at 3B, and Bloom, and Cora should both be fired. At some point, it's not the coaching's fault, but the players. Right?

 

Duran followed coaching direction and improved his poor defense to be mediocre. Why can't Raffy? Can Casas?

Don't forget that on some days I'm definitely an over-reactor.

 

I don't think the defense is the crux of why the Sox are where they are. I think hitting--actually, runs scored and rbi's--and pitching are the crux.

 

I say that because the Astros appear to have both hitting and pitching, especially in the measly two games we just watched.

 

I honestly felt that the return of Sale, Houck, and Whitlock would make a big difference in pitching, but it sure doesn't look that way in this series in Houston although Houck last night definitely pitched better than Paxton The Not So Great the night before.

This isn’t about bashing Cora, and Cora I’m pretty sure is more than pissed about the whole situation that has gone on for two years now. The word is that Cora is actually out there with players before games, but nothing has worked. Like Cora has said more than once that everyone always has a place to be when playing D. It didn’t look like it last night on that bunt. Cora can not get through to these players.

Managers have lost jobs because of this very point. But blame pie also gets served to those who provide a skipper with his wayward crew (never metaphor I didn't like).

 

Devers was inherited, as well as promoted prospects from Dombro days. But do Bloom acquisitions always have to require pitchers who can't throw to bases, outfielders who miss cut-offs, catchers who get picked off bases, and Verdugos acting like wingnuts?
