No, I think it's great that Bloom put some money in their pockets by taking Diekman off the books.

And that money - per you - went to upgrading Henry’s yacht. The upgrades were installed by a guy we’ll call “Doug”, despite his real name being Ivan. Anyway, with the money “Doug” got for the upgrades, he was able to purchase Invisalign braces for little 9 year old Tiffany to help with her overbite.

So can you now see the benefits of trading Diekman?

I like Notin's #2 as i do not see Duvall in any go forward scenario next year. I tend to agree with Bellhorn's assessment that Paxton would be a difficult move in terms of continuing to compete, but Notin's #3 could offset the loss of Paxton .

I would still hold on Duran, although you need to see the proposed deal, because he has shown the ability to improve year over year and is under control for a good while. But the real reason is he has the one thing that cannot be coached significantly and that is game changing speed. His 4 double night showed that impact. Singles become doubles, including legit singles + a SB. He should be in CF where he can get to more balls in deep corners , then hope he catches them.

The Sox are otherwise a notoriously slow team including Casas, Turner, Devers and Yoshida , through the middle of the lineup. Duran on base in front of them makes a run producing difference.

Duran's displayed attitude or lack of trying last year set off many fans and the organization , but that seems to be in the past now. Good for him

Trading Paxton in any kind of trade that would not bring in pitching talent that could help us right now, spells "we are done for this year". I don't like it because it sounds like quit to me. I would have to think that many fans would feel that way as well. I want something to look forward to every year including this year. Now Paxton might get traded and it might be a good move for the future but I have to think if he doesn't get traded and we do not resign him, the future still can look just as bright.

I agree that trading Paxton is giving up on 2023, no matter who we trade for in other deals.

I do wish we had traded everyone not nailed down, last season, so I can see the reasoning, if someone thinks we have no shot, this year, and maybe we all might feel that way by August 1st.

As far as the fans go, I look back at 2022 and how totally happy everyone was when we did not trade away any big stars.

I'm not sure any GM can ever make the majority of Sox fans happy, so maybe just doing what you think most helps the team, by balancing the here and now with teh future and extended future is what is best for the team.

Imagine, if we had traded Duran and Bello for a good pitcher, last year. Maybe we throw in Casas and get Castillo. Many fans would have been happy. Is that all that should matter?

Sox Nation has too many crybaby fans to ever make them happy.

It really is a feel-good story, but it's disappointing they haven't covered it in the Globe.

Considering that we're still way under the threshold this year, it appears that this year's share of the $5 mill went toward some upgrades on JH's yacht. :D

Not so fast. We may be buyers at the deadline, and that added $4M could land us a $12M player (who is owed $4M for the last 2 months.)

It could be added to what we have to spend, now and land an even bigger fish or two.

We're all crybabies about something.

Yes, I agreed with that after someone pointed that out, the first time I said we may have failed to have a firesale due to the fear of the massive amounts of crybaby fans in Sox Nation.

I cry about crybaby fans, a lot.

When Bloom is finally showed the door, which will happen we will see what the result will be from the Bloom supporters on here. Probably nothing short of a flash flood from all the tears. Did someone say crybaby fans?

Yeah because we should be OK with 3 last place AL East finishes in the 4 years Bloom has been here. I guess that makes us cry baby fans.

... but everything uses sports metaphors -- even peanut butter and jelly.

When it's crunch time, and we're in a jam, I need to bring my A game to the table. And not waste any bread.

There are no Bloom supporters.

Just sane people who don’t conclude that everything and anything is Blooms fault just because the Sox aren’t great. When you really think about it, your mentality is the definition of a “cry-baby” which is fine, to each their own. All opinions matter, even if expressed like a baby crying.

no doubt Bloom has done sone good things but this is a results oriented business

and the results have not been great. Pretty sure Henry is tying his hands some though.

When did I say anyone should be okay with 3 last place finishes? (BTW, it's only 2.)

I also did not say that crying was not justified- only that I felt JH, Bloom & Co. decided not to do the right thing and sell, last deadline out of fear of turning the crybabies into a raging mob.

I keep asking them to name just one "Bloom supporter" after they act like there are a dozen.

I've yet to hear just one name.

(I'm thinking maybe Max is one, and I don't mean that as a bad thing.)

Well I wanted them to SELL. Right now I am undecided but my gut tells me the right thing to do is to at least partially sell. Even with our recent hot spell BTW--we are stiil in last place.

Yes, but you said 3 last place "finishes."

And millions more who think you’re just flat out silly.

What’s your point? That you’re the majority and you will be staking that claim until someone proves you wrong?

I suppose we can all make up the size of the mob that backs our opinions.

Except the one about you making up the phrase “Red Sox Nation.” Pretty sure you’re alone there…
