Yanks in 4th place- just 1.5 ahead of the "pathetic Sox."

Like I said earlier, if we are as bad as you say we are, and you guys are just barely better than us, what does that make you?

It's only been 20- something games? But sure, if we were to prorate their records over a full season the Yankees would be 10 games ahead of Boston.

They'd still be in 4th place, but your point is well-taken. However, in just one day, that could fall to 3 games (or rise to 17 games.)

I think the 4th place thing is overblown, considering they're 13-10 (despite looking like dogshit in most games). Even though Boston is in last they still have a .500 record (they'd be 2nd in the Central!). The division has just been much better than all others out of the gate.

Fair enough, but I think what jacko has said about the .500 Sox is overblown.

The sox are having their little dance in the sunshine right now. They'll fade. Their roster doesn't have enough talent.

The Yanks may end up fading as well if they don't get healthy. Trivino sounds like he's out for the year. Rodon keeps adding injuries. Severino has another week before a rehab assignment and realistically isn't an option til mid to late May. Cortes is 3-1. Yanks won his ND start. Cole is 4-0 and Yanks won his ND start. They're 9-1 when Cole or Cortes stats. They're 4-10 when the others start. That's a combo of terrible pitching and awful hitting, but this team was meant to be carried by the starters and they're onto starters #6, 7, and 8 right now. Bader is about to begin a rehab assignment. He is an upgrade over Flash in the pan Franchy and the almost completely given up Hicks. Stanton is out for another month and really cannot be counted on. Volpe is heating up. Cabrera is not. Trevino proving he wasn't what he was last first half. The offense is almost entirely on Judge, Rizzo, Torres and Lemahieu. I said from the beginning that the offense was not enough. We needed another bat and Cash decided to sink big money into an injured arm over another bat. If they don't find some magic, they'll be buried too

But... the Yanks are World Series favorites!

The .500 Red Sox may not be loaded, but right now their core four of Devers, Verdugo, Yoshida and Duran is at 2.8 WAR... vs. 2.6 WAR for the quartet you listed: Judge-Rizzo-Torres-DJ.

Maybe some of those hot starts will level off -- for both clubs...

Duran is core-four now? Coulda sworn everyone wished they traded him while he still had prospect value.

Yes, we're a fickle lot. Go Jarren baby!

Opinions change over time. Heck, I thought the Yankees trade for Donaldson and IKF was a good one. Shows you how wrong you can be.

Duran is having a Franchy start. Hell fade

Franchy never had a Franchy start.

Good ole Yankee fans think Sox fans should still hate Duran because he didn't used to be good.

Nobody's anointing Duran a star, but his current WAR is indisputable data that he's playing like a big leaguer... and helping his club win the same amount of games as the annual World Series favorite.

I'm just saying that he went from being a bum to a core player in the matter of a week. What happens if he hits .100 this coming week?

The semantics of the word "core" seem to bother you. My mistake. Jacksonian listed the top four Yanks; I countered with the Sox' top four so far this year.

To some, Duran was a hard guy to root for when he was going badly last season, mainly because of a questionable attitude on a few issues. The perception is that he's more a team guy now, but the reality is fans will probably cheer him as long as he's doing well.

Once on a nationally-televised Yanks-Red Sox brawl, cameras caught Mickey Rivers as a blatant cheap-shot artist. Yankee fans still loved him as long as he wore pinstripes.

Comparing these two is like apples to oranges. Franchy has played in parts of 7 MLB seasons: Duran in 3, including just 9 games, this year.

It's a half game now, baby!

Looks like it might be back up to 1 1/2 after today though

This 4th place battle is exciting

You haven't been watching many Sox comeback games.

I'll be honest, I haven't watched an inning of the Red Sox this season. I'm also trying to limit how much I watch the Yankees because watching every game is such a time drain.

And I must say the injuries have been insane.

Having a lot of older players plus players with injury histories increases the odds, but yes- insane.

The Sox have had their share, but not like this.

Posted
Everyone knows a lot of the guys on the team are injury prone, but to have this many top players injured within a month of the season is hard to believe. And thus we are forced to watch Aaron Hicks play everyday.

Hicks has an OPS+ of -4. Not even sure how that's possible LOL

Texas putting the wood to em today! Evol, and Martin Perez have shut them down the last two days too. Edited by Old Red

Yeah, this is insane.

Montas, Rodon, Severino from the rotation

Trivino, Effross, Loaisiga from the pen

Judge, Stanton, Bader, Donaldson from the lineup.

This is a AAA team right now, and a bad one. If it wasn’t for Cy Cole, we’d be well under .500

I think we are approaching the time where Brian Cashman needs to be let go. Take Boone with him

You crack me up.

"The time" has been "now," so many times, I've lost count.

Like I've said over and over, Cashman and Boone are the best GM & manger combo the Sox have had in a long time. They never stop helping us look good.
