The pressure is on Arroyo NOT TO GET INJURED again. At least not until either Chang or Story returns.

He only has about 200 PA's left in his body this season before he needs to go into a Star Wars Bacta Tank until Spring Traning 2024. He's got one more year to run it back with us. Let's go!

Arroyo's bad either way.

Since coming to Boston:

614 PA

16 HR

73 R

80 RBI

736 OPS

99 wRC+

I'd take that out of my minimum wage starting 2b hitting 8th/9th all day long. I know a former poster from Maine who would love this guy.

That's not who he is now. He has a .660 OPS mostly because injuries take their toll, he's not old by any stretch, but something has to give with all of those maladies.

John Lester was terrific for the Sox. Here's a quick summary of what he did before being traded to the Cubs during 2014

27 2006 15 GS 7-2 81 IP 4.78 ERA

28 2007 11 GS 4-0 63 IP 4.57 ERA

29 2008 33 GS 16-6 210 IP 3.24 ERA

30 2009 32 GS 15-8 203 IP 3.41 ERA

31 2010 32 GS 19-9 208 IP 3.25 ERA

32 2011 31 GS 15-9 191 IP 3.47 ERA

33 2012 33 GS 9-14 205 IP 4.82 ERA

34 2013 32 GS 15-7 213 IP 2.46 ERA

35 2014 Traded to the Cubs during the season

I believe Bello can have the career John Lester had. Lester BLEW UP in his 3rd full season in the majors.

I see Bello breaking out in 2024, also his third season for the Sox.

Tanner, Houck and Kutter will all turn 28 in 2024.

We watch a boomer sport and talk about "advanced metrics" that are really just 4th grade math problems. I wouldn't throw that stone too hard. Also, you're old now. You could throw your back out with physical exertion like that.

I'm not sure he's any worse this year than he really was last year. Yeah, he's an old 28. He's always been a streaky guy. I don't actually believe he's very good. I do believe Dojji would love him though.

First off, neeeeeeeeerd

Second, I'm a f***ing beast. I actually ran around the park with both my kids for two full minutes before feeling like I was dying yesterday.

Same thing that happens to everyone around here: they slowly fade away.

Sox should sign me. Can't be worse than Kike out there.

Depends on how good your shoe game is.

My grandfather in law was a HUGE Kiké fan, but he finally turned on him. Traded. Released. Anything. Just wants him gone. Kiké has been that bad.

I guess we're just a bad team.

I'm sure all of us on this board 'coached' either baseball or softball, or at least played some baseball.

FIRST RULE;

Keep the batter off second base. Make them get three singles to score a run. I remember telling my daughter's softball team just that when she was 10.

Yoshida NEVER even looked at the batter as he made the throw to home plate. This was on a base hit CHOPPED over Dever. A ball that Yoshida had to run to just reach the ball. I will give him credit for at least hitting the cut off man but this Rays team has too much speed. He had NO play at the home. Hitter is on second.

On the subsequent play, a Ray hits a ball to first base, easy play for Turner. Now the batter was too fast probably to double up but it was an easy force out at second.

Instead of one out, runner on first, it's one out runner on third. We bring the infield in. Then we have a ball hit slightly to the right of second base for a base hit. 2-0.

With a runner on first and infield back, there's a chance for a force at second, keeping the score at 1-0.

We're just not good enough to play sloppy baseball. Our bats bailed us out in April but we're in a team slump.

THIS IS A SLOPPY TEAM. No one is held accountable.

Playoffs? Playoffs? Are you f***ing kidding me?

Their fundamentals are pathetic and Cora has 100% of the fault.

I think everyone knew what was coming this year . Hopefully when the offseason comes it won’t be a boring offseason and changes will occur.

It was Refsnyder in left today, but the rest of your post was spot on.

It’s an organizational thing; fundamentals have to be taught from day one in A ball. It’s been going on too long; it’s obvious they are not.

Only Casas, Devers and Duran played A ball in the Sox organization…

A lot of talk about this rotation

Starter ERA

Season: 5.29

Last 30 days: 4.40

Last 14 days: 4.23

Team OPS:

Season: .786

Last 30 Days: .718

Last 14 days: .699

The starters, while certainly not good, might not be the problem here. Especially considering the play behind them…

A 2-5 home stand comes to an end, and it actually could have been worse. If not for 1 big inning against Cincinnati, and 1 big inning against Tampa it could have been very easily 0-7. If you look at the stats the Red Sox are up to the top in runs scored, but if you’ve been watching the eye test will tell they are not that good especially the last 2-3 weeks. They knocked around a batting practice pitcher in Arizona, and had the two big innings I mentioned earlier, but outside of that the offense has been pretty weak. Same with Raffy his power numbers are pretty good, but if you have watched the eye test has shown you there have been more power outages than not. Sinking farther in the standings, but still 100 games to go, so there is still plenty of time, but if the bats don’t come around there is no hope for making up for the starting pitching, and the D.

With Duvall close, how does he get back in the lineup?

I could see Duran getting demoted.

In no way should Kike return to shortstop. CF. Full time.

If you put Duvall in LF, with Kike in CF and Dugo in RF, that leaves questions about 2b, SS and Turner. Cora has used Turner as an emergency 2b; hopefully he doesn’t see him as a full time solution.

Turner at 1b? Certainly possible, but should Casas get demoted?

And even then, 2b and SS? Until Story and/or Mondesi gets back, the Reyes/Arroyo/Valdez crowd doesn’t really do it for me. But that’s the options. Unless they decide Hamilton deserves a chance. Not sure why he was added to the 40 man of he’s not an option at a position of weakness while tearing up AAA…

Very simple Duvall goes back in CF. The luster has mostly come off Duran, and Kike can’t hit much of anything. Duvall most likely won’t pick up where he left off, so they’ll have to play him for awhile, and see how he does. 2B, and SS is still a cluster. I’m not sure Reyes is a FT SS, and we know Kike isn’t. Arroyo would be alright at 2B, but he can’t stay healthy. Plenty of options, but quantity doesn’t turn out quality.

If y'all know the team isn't going to win as constructed, what's the rush with demoting the young guys? Let them play.

If Kike is going to play - and he very likely is - it should be in CF. If Cora can’t see that, he should be replaced…
