I know it’s spring training but it has the feel of another s***** season.

To you and apparently many others- not me.

Again the first 30 games will tell us a lot . I just hope they can get off to a decent start this season.

I agree that a good start is essential to successful season. Of course, anything can happen, but starting out well, makes an already difficult situation more manageable. The season no longer starts with a bunch of games off, like the old days. I think we play 25 games in the first 26 days.

Starting at home with 3 v BAL, then 3 v PIT is helpful, if we are to start out well. Our first road trip could be tougher (3 @ DET & 4 @ TBR), then back home for 4 v LAA & 3 v MN. The next road trip is not horrible, either: 3 @ MIL & 3 @ BAL. We have a day off then finish April with 3 v CLE at home. The start to May is tough.

April Games

6 BAL

4 TBR & LAA

3 PIT, DET, MN, MIL, CLE

James Paxton may have exercised his modest player option knowing his overall health better than anyone (except perhaps his physician).

The hamstring is but a minor issue.

But thank you for the feedback.

You do watch some movies with horribly polite but somehow still frighteningly boring homicidal maniacs.

What is giving that feel? The Red Sox being undefeated?

Rule changes: Pitch clock : Thumbs up. No shift: Thumbs up. Big bases: Undecided. Pick off limit: Unnecessary. Ghost runner. Thumbs down.

The pick-off limit really gives an advantage to the runner, when all are used up.

No Shift is already a failure because it’s still legal to move the CF to short RF where the 2b used to play in the old shift. This creates the exact scenario the league wanted to ban, but in a perfectly legal way…

Some people just come here to vent. And sometimes their baseball vents might not be related to baseball at all…

Any time you have a new rule/law , people will look for ways to get around it. MLB may or may not look to close this loophole.

The shift is a success already. Just the few games I have seen there have been a number of balls that had gotten through that wouldn’t last year. More base runners makes more action all the way around.

"Failure"? I suppose the pitch clock is a failure too because of that time, you know, when you left the tv to get a beer and missed two pitches just off the corner?

You are not going to see the OF come in, and play in short RF as much as what the shift had become in previous years with the 2B like Story had been planted there more often than not.

They could amend it, quickly.

Still on a nice run by several SP'ers, this spring:

0.00 ERA and IP (WHIP)

5.0 Crawford 0.40

5.0 Winckowski 1.20

4.2 Kluber 1.29

3.0 Walter 0.33

2.2 Murphy 1.13

2.0 Mata 0.50

1.2 Houck 2.40

1.2 Paxton 0.00

The only projected SP who has let up an ER is Pivetta.

25 out of the 39 pitchers who have pitched in ST'ing have a 0.00 ERA. Those 25 pitchers total 54 IP, so far.

Notable Pitchers without a 0.00 ERA:

2.25 Bleier in 4 IP (1.00 WHIP)

2.25 Mills 4.0 IP (1.00)

9.00 Brasier 1.0 (2.00)

9.00 Ort 4.0 (2.25)

16.20 Pivetta 1.2 (3.60)

18.00 Kelly 1.0 (3.00)

18.00 Schreiber 1.0 (2.00)

Another good outing by the KUT Man, who will probably get a rotation spot depending on the amount of injuries.

That’s your go to for a psychoanalyst joke? That’s like needing a physician reference for a punchline, and settling on Dr. Dre…
