Tom Werner says he believes Chaim Bloom has a clear plan to help the Red Sox win another World Series.

I believe this, too- maybe just not as soon as many here wish it to be. (Having a clear plan does not mean it will happen, either.)

It all comes down to what was expected 3 years ago, 2 years ago, 1 year ago, and now.

Those who saw the 2020 team as very similar to the 2018 team, and they didn't think slashing the budget and forbidding top prospect trades would affect the results are disappointed.

Those who saw the writing on the wall, expected some bumps along the way to rebuilding a team worthy of glory.

Some, I'm sure, are inbetween- maybe most.

At least 20 teams figure to fall into that range…

I'm thinking 70-90 is the likely range, unless we add some consequential players before opening day.

Who’s the GM when it happens. Remember John Ferrell, horrible manager but JH loved him, when he was finally let go he couldn’t get another managers job not even a bench coach, the league is watching Bloom, when Henry’s done with him, job offers I believe will be very slow coming

I really don’t think anyone thought the 2020 team was similar to the 2018 team

Just a meaningless little line to appease the more gullible fans. Of course he has a plan. They all have a plan. By the way , where was John Henry ? Too busy to attend the press conference ?

Before the Betts-Price trade, is what I should have said, or the team Bloom inherited.

Didn't want to be booed.

And I still say that Raffy was signed, because he was the last man standing, and Henry, and his Rabbit ears got embarrassed, which pushed him over the final edge to get the signing done.

So, crybaby fans did force a decision. It's good to see you come up with some ideas all by yourself.

This signing all goes to JH, and I believe if it was up to Bloom Raffy would not be signed at all. Bloom’s analytics came up with Raffy being compared to Olson, and his 8/ $160M+ offer. Being a crybaby works sometimes, and if that’s what it took to get Raffy signed I’m all for it. Other the other hand being a crybaby doesn’t always work like you, and your fire sale.

Cora says Sox will need players to step up with Story out. Notes Duran has an opportunity to be a factor. He also says there have now been more conversations about Kiké Hernández at SS.

He's had the opportunity since 4/1/21 and hasn't done anything with it. He's a complete waste of talent.

I know crybaby fans work, and sometimes it's a good thing.

The fear of crybaby fans that prevented a fire sale, or even a mini fire sale, hurt the team, going forward. No, it does not always work out for the best, but sometimes, it does, like with Devers deal, although you'd have let him walk over a few million dollars.

That would be said regardless of who's in charge. It's a vote of confidence

Now we have to hear the "butterfly man" rant 1,000 more times!

No you will hear the Bloom rant for the butterfly man even being out there. That’s an easy one.

All fans are crybabies.

You got your mini fire sale with Vaz, and now we have no #1 C, which hurts the team going forward. That we agree on.

Doesn't even make sense as the dude didn't even chase after the ball. I don't get the rant.

Someone made the comment that Duran plays the OF like he’s chasing butterflies when he’s trying to track fly balls.

McGuire is as good as Vazquez…

So now we're stuck with "the Butterfly Man." Not "the monarch"? Not "skipper" or "swallowtail"?

See, I'd go with "sulphur" because

1. butterfly reference

2. sulfur in UK is spelled sulphur

3. he stinks

4. his jersey number is 16

5. sulphur/sulfur's atomic number is 16

He’s a backup, and won’t match ALL of Vaz clutch hits throughout the years.

First of all, “clutch” is a very subjective term. So it’s not much of a measure. This is not up for debate; it’s been the subject of multiple debates.

Second, while certainly a lot less games played, McGuire has had starting jobs. And no catcher is a full time player.

Third, for his career, Vazquez has been worth 0.0167 fWAR/game. McGuire has been worth 0.0169 fWAR/game. That’s about as equal as it gets.

I don’t care if you don’t like fWAR. It’s objective. Not like “clutch”. And don’t debate that point; it’s been belabored to death…

I take my butterfly talk seriously. You may not have known that about me. I currently have sulphurs, zebra longwings and monarchs in my yard. It's the dead of winter so that's a lite showing.

Monarch might be the most appropriate if they're indeed endangered now (because humans are endangering everything).

What about the tangibles? Those you won’t find on any analytics sheet.
