@redsoxstats

In his Red Sox notebook today, @alexspeier is reporting that when Eric Hosmer was traded to the Red Sox, a contract provision kicked in that now gives him full no-trade protection.

He might agree to a trade, if he knows he will be on the bench, or we might just DFA him, as notin wants us to do.

Per @redsoxstats, his luxury tax is only approximately $700k currently shown as adjusted on Spotrac. If they DFA'd him, it's not big deal.

True, and if he's replaced by a min pay guy, it's no change, at all.

But he and super agent Scott Boras will want fair market value in free agency this offseason after signing a team-friendly contract in 2019.

Fair Market Value is what the willing buyer (Sox) and the willing seller (Xander) agrees to. You can get million data on real estate transaction for a neighborhood but if the buyer is unwilling to meet the relative value of sold homes, then you have no deal.

Stop, putting up what other shortstops received in the last 12 months. Sox has a price range as do Xander. Let's hope they overlap.

I will again sign up for the major league package next year. Best value buy in my opinion.

I did not stop my subscription when Betts was traded. I won't stop if Xander doesn't come back.

I'll enjoy watching Bello and Casas next year.

I am a Red Sox fan and a fan of Sox players.

Well, the average male height is 5'6" and MVP is definitely taller than that. Only YOTN could really confirm how tall MVP actually is, unless MVP was wearing lifts that day.

A true Sox fan.

I'm with you 100%.

I'm pretty sure many of our younger players will struggle of fizzle out into obscurity, but with so many coming up in the next few months, I'm pretty certain quite a few will shine and some will fill some lesser, yet important roles on our team going forward.

But we’re all in agreement I’m the more handsome knucklehead…

Both in their own minds.

I do agree with him that Rickey was absolutely among the greatest players of all time.

Until Bonds passed him, Rickey was briefly the all time MLB leader in 3 categories (stolen bases, runs and walks). The list of players who were the all time leaders in 3 categories is pretty small…

He's not in my top 10, but in his own mind, he's top 1.
