Bloom and the Red Sox handled the Vazquez situation poorly. There is no getting around that. That said , Vaz is a big boy. He will get over it . These guys know what they are signing up for.

No doubt, I don't understand why posters in here are trying to defend it. If you watched it, it was plainly obvious.

Also, just as puzzling, they allowed him in the hitters scouting meeting knowing he was in all likelihood being traded to that night's opponent.

Yeah, he's been ok. The Padres just overpaid for him. If you look back at his Royals track record, it made no sense for him to get the contract he got.

That's a little bit of a roller coaster ride. Then he went to a ballpark that massively suppresses hits (ballpark factor is 30th for H and 2B). Maybe he'll be better in Fenway? Maybe he'll still be somewhat mediocre?

Maybe Hosmer will be a Mitch 2bags, which would be welcome. Anyone with an OPS over .700 is an upgrade to 2/3s of the recent starting lineup and all of the bench sitters.

It's been ugly. There's no getting around it. Maybe they'll be watchable again?

yes, a few million per year will help your hurt feelings over the business side of baseball. I do think it was a weak way to handle a long term veteran player.

Hopefully Bloom gets the same treatment when he is shown the door, which is hopefully sooner than later.

You’ve got the Bloom supporters, and some on here didn’t think Vaz was good enough, so it’s not surprising.

Bloom seems lost.

Unless there are more moves coming, it seems like Chaim Bloom:

1. Started to sell by dealing Christian Vazquez

2. Felt internal and external pressure about the move

3. Then tried to make minor moves to make it look like he was actually buying?

So the Red Sox finally get a 1b and now create a big hole at catcher for the rest of the 2022 season? What is Bloom doing? Why trade Vazquez but hold on to JD Martinez and Eavoldi?

X comment on Vaz trade. "I would not say we got better because we lost Vazquez"

Oh Danny Boy Shaughnassy calls it "Tampa Bay by the Charles"

Bogey is right, and the players in the clubhouse are pissed, and know Bloom has given up on them

So we trade Vasquez and Groome to get Tommy Pham and Hosmer. Is that it? If so, what was this supposed to be — buying... or selling?

That's the problem -- Bloom didn't seem to know which one to do. What a disaster. This is even worse than last year when Bloom failed to solidify the pitching staff.

The Red Sox improved at 1b but created a black hole at catcher. Brilliant.

So the tally is in. The Sox deadline moves clearly say WE ARE OUT for 2022 no matter what Bloom says now. ITS OBVIOUS.

Bloom ends up with a few dregs prospects and a few players that can at least take the field this year. But his two moves are a Surrender Flag trade of Vaz and a reach for a lifeline deal that SD had to make when Hosmer refused to go to the Nationals in the Soto deal. SD went looking for the most glaring 1st baseman need in baseball, that of the BOSTON RED SOX. The Hosmer deal really does not include more than a rental for the Sox as there is little to no chance that Hosmer won't opt out.

So what's up with JD? Why is he still here? Nobody wanted a bat even one that is suspect for the final run? I guess he is part of the Bloom "we are still in it" cloaking device.

Bloom-ing Idiot. Trade the heart and soul of the clubhouse, a team void of catcher other than Vazquez, who actually wants to be a Sox, then acquire has-beens and relics and cost cutters. That's why the Sox suck. They are a shittier team than last year by leaps and bounds. Story gets the money, Xander/Devers will get the shaft when the time comes. Wouldn't bring back Renfroe, wouldn't even attempt to sign Schwarber, gave away Beni, got ultimately an average outfielder for MVP Betts. But hey let's get back aging JBJR, and have Hosmer at first and Pham platoon in the outfield and let's rely on Plawecki to be the full-time catcher. This team flat out is terrible and will get worse rest of season. Starting pitching fell apart and too many minor leaguers occupying MLB positions.

Bloom is not exactly Mr. Excitement. He was absent when charisma was handed out. Deadline day for the Sox was vintage Bloom . Low key and mostly quiet.

Let’s remember also that the great Bloom just ask his (jock) supporters took 104 games to get a real 1B, and some help for the OF. While the deals were better than what they had I repeat it took 104 games, which I believe there was loses along the way, because of the bad play at 1B, and the OF. Blooming, or Wilting?

There is this fable of a jackass put equidistant between two bales of hay. The jackass starved to death because he could not decide which bale of hay to eat.

Does anyone think this was a good trade deadline for the Red Sox? I don’t know what to make of it.

Didn’t lose anything. Didn’t really gain much.

Didn’t lose anything. How about a good clutch bat, and a leader in the clubhouse?

JD not being traded pisses me off equally as much as Vaz being traded.

I know we have a bunch of quitters on here who wanted all the expiring contracts sold off, but it never should have come to this. Bloom has had 3 years to work on what to do with all these expiring contracts, but did nothing about it, and not only that Raffy, and Bogey are still drifting around out there with the wind. What a mastermind!

Oh but wait......you have to give the Bloom masterplan time. Give him about 5 years to flesh through all this crap he is bringing to the organization and he will have found enough gems to make ........a run at the first round of the post season. Yeah.......hurrah........

Somehow I don't think we were interested in seeing what its like to be a small market team.

Let's be reasonable, they made it to the ALCS in his second season.

Jock supporters, beautiful. Sure, let's just turn this into a political thing, and have the pro-Bloom and anti-Bloom camps heap abuse on each other. That'll be fun, huh? Let's turn Talksox into Sawxheads, another lightly moderated Red Sox board that turned incredibly ugly before dying.

Okay let’s stick to the facts. Did Bloom wait 104 games, before he got a real 1B, and a much need veteran OF help, and games were lost, because of it?

Any explanation I have to offer you'll just call an excuse, so what's the point? Seems like Bloom haters aren't actually interested in discussion any more. If you don't agree with them, they get abusive.
