Bloom is trying to play that fine line between buying and selling, present and future.

There are not a lot of Bloom fans right now, including the team apparently, and I can understand why.

All I can say is have patience and keep the faith.

That's a waste of time IMO.

The team is not going anywhere presently, so having a half assed sell off doesn't make sense.

Just further proof that orlando is in over his head.....

May not be Bloom's call. Could be JH saying he wants the team competitive and doesn't want an all out firesale. Honestly, while it is best for the sox long term to fire sell, the likelihood that they even get to be as good as they are right now for next season is low

If that's the case then Mr. Burns, err, I mean, john henry, really puts orlando in an almost no win situation.

It must be a directive from above because it's a very tough tight rope to walk.

It's a very difficult tight rope to walk. The priority is still long term sustainability, but it's also tough to give up on a season when there's still a fairly good chance the Sox can make the playoffs. Last night, I was reminded of the 2021 Braves. At the deadline, they were hovering around 2-3 games below .500. We all know how that turned out.

It may or may not work out. Either way, Bloom is far from being over his head.

To me the fact they let Eovaldi pitch last night, and go about as far as he could (97 pitches), suggests they are still thinking playoffs, not selloff.

It was too little, too late and kinda underwhelming, but there's a half day to go... We'll see what it looks like tonight.

If this is all it is, I'd rank it a C+ for now.

I wish they traded all their expiring contracts, but there was no way that was ever going to happen. Henry wasn't going to allow it.

Yes let’s just sell off everything, and just quit. If a team like the Red Sox ever gets to a point that is so bad that they are out of the postseason picture with 2 months to go with a $200M payroll then there better be some heads roll from mismanagement at the top.

I believe I read that their playoff odds before last night's game was somewhere around 18%

Not exactly sure if that qualifies as "fairly good"

Still questionable if there has been any serious interest in Evol, or not.

Have you ever posted one complimentary thing about the Red Sox?

I truly believe that Bloom thinks this team can make the playoffs.

I think there would definitely be some interest in him.

Do you know how quickly those odds can change?

And maybe they stumble in. But it would be because others failed, not because the sox succeeded.

One interesting thing to this point is the Jays have done nothing. That really surprises me. They need at least one starter and they have stood pat

Umm, I respect Ted Williams. And I think their classic home uniforms are infinitely better than those horrific blue and yellow city connect uniforms.

Speaking of which, did you see the astros ugly city connect uni's last night?

He's fooling himself and he don't believe it!

You truly believe that Bloom walks on water. I on the other hand think, and have from day 1 that he is in way over his head.

Not necessarily. There's still 2 months of baseball to be played. A lot can happen.

I think the Jays are still looking.

I was not a fan of those uniforms.

I don't think he walks on water. He has made mistakes. That said, I am a much, much greater fan of Bloom and his philosophy than I was of Dombrowski.

What’s important is the players don’t think Bloom thinks the team can make the playoffs, and may be pissed off enough to prove him wrong.

Which, the sox, the 'stros or both?

Both. I actually love the shade of yellow on the Sox' city connect jerseys, but I don't think that color scheme has any business being on a Red Sox uniform.

Bloom’s philosophy at the moment has gotten the Red Sox in last place that he has had 3 years to work on.

It's somewhere in the middle.
