That doesn’t mean the Red Sox will spend up to that.

I don't think they will need to if they are just signing McHugh and Suzuki.

They will likely leave wiggle room, like they did for last season's deadline.

And they're probably signing neither.

I'm think the odds favor neither, with just one a distant second.

Both, a near impossibility.

I would agree. It's going to be a few more WTF moves that somehow work out in the end.

Will we be welcoming Jonathan Villar on board?

Where is Freeman landing now??

The Braves. Now that the bases will be getting bigger, they believe two players can now play 1B.

Starting Rotation Season Opener

2022 vs 2021

Eovaldi vs Eovaldi

Sale vs E Rod

Pivetta vs Pivetta

Wacha vs Richards

Hill vs Perez

Sale made his debut on August 14th and started 9 regular season games.

I just don't understand the 'panic' on this board.

Moon, Eovaldi, Pivetta and Sale (thr 8/14) has chance to be better than Eovaldi, Pivetta and E Rod (thr 8/14) of 2021.

I'd say Wacha/Hill combo versus Richards/Perez is a wash.

I would also contend that we have more starting options in 2022 than in 2021.

I won't even bring up Paxton because a Yankee fan told me he's brittle or something.

Why the panic?

I don't think there's much panic.

It's just that Bloom really knows how to underwhelm us LOL

File under IT COULD ALWAYS BE WORSE:

@JesseRogersESPN

Probably not a great thing, when Fernando Tatis was asked when his motorcycle accident happened, he responded, 'which one.'

I'm far from panic.

Why claim people are in panic?

I feel about the same this year as last, and it worked out pretty well.

My point is that to me, the rotation is our weakest area. Weakest NOT weak.

Matt Olson to Braves.

Their biggest return, by far, was a catcher- a position they are already deeper than anywhere else.

Could the Sox trade Casas (and another player) for a young catcher of the future and Manea? (Maybe get Trivino thrown in?)

Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suarez to Seattle

Baseball Trade Rumors has the trade as a major overpay by the Seattle Mariners ($23 million to $10.2 million).

Losing lefthander Brandon Williamson hurts.

It's Brandon Williamson, Justin Dunn and Jake Fraley for Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suarez.

The Reds reportedly will also get a player to be named.

The Mariners paid a steep price for needed bats.

Seattle fans wonder what transaction comes next.

What does MLBTradeValues say?

Notin and Harmony do you think Mitchy Haniger is on the Block Now ? Mariners have a ton of OF now with this trade ? Really like this player for Boston .His spray chart would be obscene in Fenway .

BTV accepted this trade: would you?

Casas and Bello

for

Soderstrom, Manaea & Trivino

I'm not sure, if it would accept Casas for Langeliers, Manaea & Trivino

Is heyman serious ? Are we really in the Freddie sweepstakes ? And what does that mean for Casas ? I don’t buy this .Love the player though Edited by Swiharts Ghost

What does MLBTradeValues say?

Brandon Williamson $15.4 million

Justin Dunn $4.9 million

Jake Fraley $2.7 million

TOTAL $23 million

Jesse Winker $19.1 million

Eugenio Suarez negative $8.9 million

TOTAL $10.2 million

The Mariners may have a higher value on the 30-year-old Suarez, who is owed about $11.3 million annually for the next three seasons. Suarez posted a 127 ERA+ with 109 home runs in 2017-19 before falling off steeply the past two seasons. A small sample but perhaps the Mariners saw something in the .370/.460/.808/1.268 line Suarez posted in 89 plate appearances last September and October.

Adding only about $17.5 million to the 2022 payroll, Seattle got two years of Winker and three years of Suarez, with an average current age barely on the young side of 30.

The Mariners should be able to afford another starting pitcher.

Looks like a good deal for the M's.

Did any cash go to a team?

I hear a significant PTBNL is involved.

The Reds reportedly will also receive a player to be named or cash considerations.

Seattle GM Jerry Dipoto today said the PTBNL would not be someone on the 40-man roster.

It means nothing for Casas.

I doubt the Sox sign Freeman, but even if they do the departure of JD Martinez - either this year or this off-season - creates an opening in the lineup.

Or we package Casas to Oakland for some of their Heavily Movables…

Sometimes you just get the best player available. The market for the dirt cheap Langeliers will be even bigger than the one for Olson. Or they could move Murphy, who will appeal to a ton of teams himself…
