I think he will deal Bogey as well. He turned a s***** Workman on an expiring contract at mid season into Pivetta and Seabold, what can he do with a borderline HOFer (at least trending that way) in Bogaerts? I shudder to think

The Betts trade ain't looking so bad, now either, especially when you figure in the players he signed with the saved money from Betts and Price.

Even the little waiver pick-ups like Arroyo worked out okay.

He got Verdugo, a top 20 prospect and likely your long term backup C for one year of Betts and got to shed $48 mil in dead weight. That’s pretty good

Come on moon i am not all doom and gloom. I wanted this guys to come out quickly out of the gates against Luis García instead they made him look like Luis Tiant. The stros starting pitching was missing their best starter . Think about that .

Just stop. I stopped going to the game threads mainly because of you and your obsessive bitching and moaning and defeatism.

Just go back and look. The September Yankee sweep, the O's series, the first game loss to TB. You gave up on this team long ago, and kept trying to get everyone to follow you into the darkness. Well, you finally got to say, "I told you so," but the worst part is, you think you've been vindicated by us not scoring first and losing 3 in a row.

I think otherwise.

I think you were wrong back then, and still wrong, now.

We proved we were fighters and lasted way longer than you thought they would.

The stros were missing 2of their best starters and so we the Rays. So what? The guys they put out there were pitching great. I don't care what their names are. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this guys pitches were unhitable.

I respect your posts but you’re clueless man. To absolve this offense the last two games is ridiculous. Stop. I said my two cents. I said in this thread that the sox where gonna beat tampa. I felt great about this team heading into the postseason. I don’t think houston was that much better than us. If the sox had executed in certain spots we would be heading to the World Series right now.

My dark horse trade from the Sox is Devers. Value will never be higher, but he’s an out of position masher with only two years of control left. His value plummets as a 1b

Devers is going nowhere jacko .

Hope Bloom can re-sign Iggy. Schwarber, also, but that seems unlikely because I doubt that JD opts out or that the SOX can trade him w/o eating a big chunk of his contract.

Oh, well, que sera, sera.

LMFAO!!!!

Unhittable lmao. Oh man. I love you man but you kill me. Unhittable bahahahahahahahaha

Swinging at dirt and then doing f*** all against their bullpen.

Get real. We sucked.

Am I proud of us for making it this far, hell yes I am!!! I love this to the end no matter what. A season we were projected to finish near the bottom, we made it this far. It’s a season for the ages. But tonight our offense SUCKED and went cold. How anyone disagrees with that is beyond me.

You don’t post in game threads much. Cool. I don’t post on this forum hardly ever anymore because people are f***ing Delusional. On Bostonuproar people have sense and call it like it is. We sucked ass tonight. Their pitching was fine, but we were ice cold. If we hit like we did tonight we probably lost to Baltimore.

I don’t always agree with D Money, but you’re making out like he is totally insane and he isn’t. Our bats were ice cold tonight. Spin it anyway you want Moon, but it’s the truth.

It was a great year they exceeded expectations no doubt but you can’t absolve this offense and say houston pitched lights out. They where miserable after game 4. Houston played better but as soon as they couldn’t hit luis garcia i knew our season would end tonight. Either way this team has to get better in the offseason. They play in the toughest division in baseball. Nothing is guaranteed next year.

Let's see. A fan of another team is hot for the RS to trade their best player ...

You’re so paranoid. No, not hot for the Sox to trade him. I understand that the Game of Blooms is attached to no player and will maximize value at all times. If Bloom got what he got for a year of Betts, what do you think he could get for two years of Devers, especially if he doesn’t insist on a salary dump as well?

He is an idiot. A Yankee Troll. I don't know why anyone responds to his garbage. He is just jealous that, once again, the Sox kicked the Yankees ass!

Really dude? Yes the sox haven’t hit but his moves of perez in a one run game last time around was f***ing awful and tonight he doesn’t bring in Whitlock at least to preserve the game at 2-0. How can you defend that s***? The season is already on thin ice bring your damn best closer to at least make the game stick at 2-0.

Just because the sox haven’t hit doesn’t mean you go stupid .

I know some on here think this is the pulse of Red Sox Nation, but I can tell you after listening to many talk shows from Maine to Boston that it is not. Cora has been called brilliant, and a genius on here, but I think for someone who is supposed to that sure hasn’t shown that, and had a rough series against Houston starting with pitching Sale in game 1. Of course hindsight is 20/20, but if EO would have started game one they might have started out with a 3-0 series lead. Pitching Perez with. 1 run lead was like waving the white flag. I keep saying that all this lefty vs lefty thing is overrated, and all I can say is how did it work in this series with Perez, and Sale? Sale pitched a good game last time out, but was left in to long to face a batter that had already gone 2-2 against him. Lefty on lefty. He wasted bullets by EO in tied game, which I think affected him yesterday, and saved Whitlock for next season. Danny f’n Santana just being on the roster was mind boggling, and Cora actually pinch hit him for somebody. I could go on, and on, but Cora did not cause the bats to go silent, but he did not have a series of someone with a brilliant, and genius status. The talk shows said not.

So does this presume that Eovaldi starts both games 1 and 2, or was Cora supposed to hold Sale back and wait to start him in a game with more run support?

Please don't ever use those talk shows as an actual source. Just a bunch of loud-mouth whiny know-it-alls.

You get a better cross-section of fans here.

I’m not even going to answer question 1, and I said before the series that Sale wouldn’t have started any game. You had 4 starters without him. I knew the Cora groupies would come out in full force, so another plan comes together.

"Cora groupies come out", because notin dared to question your reasoning? Wow, that's bitchy.

I don’t think asking if EO was going to pitch the first two games was questioning anything!

You’re right about some of the talk shows, and Felgar, and Mas are the worst, but I listen to quite a few, and I haven’t heard one of the fans say that Cora was a brilliant genius. Not one where on here its common place. I find that very entertaining.

Every year, every playoff team but one sees its season end with a loss. Only a few of those can say it was a great run. The up-and-down '21 Red Sox had multiple great runs -- until they stopped scoring them. Thankfully, no one single play blew the pennant, so future Fox telecasts won't ever have time to replay three games worth of batters bouncing sinkers, popping up heaters, and whiffing on dirtballs.

The manager didn't swing a bat the entire postseason. He wasn't a genius when they slammed salamis, or a bum when they left dozens on base. But for anyone who thinks pitching moves are to blame, here are some stats on the two bullpens in this ALCS (using ERA, even though it excuses a pitcher's own errors, like Robles throwing away a pick-off): four Red Sox relievers had ERAs over 10 and five others were 4.50 or gave up late home runs. Houston had three relievers with ERAs of 0.00, and five others at 3.00 or lower.

I’m only saying that pitching moves to me are the most important decisions a manager has to make anymore with the way the game is played today, and I already mentioned that Cora did not make the bats go silent. There are more pitching moves made than anything else in a game, series, or a season.

And I read the Comments section in the Boston Globe. Lots of criticism of Cora but lots of support as well. A reasonable cross-section.

If not one of those fans you were listening to would give Cora any credit for getting this team this far, for beating the Yankees and the Rays, not to mention winning the ring in 2018, that's pretty ridiculous.

I’m not saying that Cora doesn’t, and shouldn’t get any credit, but I just think it’s over the top to say he’s a genius, or brilliant, and have only herd that on here.

We can credit the Astros' pitchers or blame the Sox' pitchers, but the fact is they both faced two of the top offenses in the MLB. There's little doubt which one was better in the ALCS; it's also arguable Boston didn't have one clutch hit in the entire six games -- at least, not in the realm of "late-and-close". Houston, however, pulled off two late-inning comeback wins and never let up.

How many of you thought this team would go nowhere this year? I did. I thought we would be fighting the Orioles for last. Ok, maybe not that bad, but I didn't see a way we could finish better than 3rd. I thought this was a rebuilding year, and I'm sure not many of you would have thought that the Red Sox would be one of the last 4 teams standing in October. So, in my book, this season was a success. Does it suck to lose a series after leading 2-1 and looking so unstoppable in Games 2 and 3? Absolutely. But, I remember saying last weekend that I was content no matter what happened because I didn't think we would be here. This season for me was a win, and unless you had the Red Sox winning the World Series in March, I suggest you look at it the same way, and take this season for what it was: A magic carpet ride that just ran out of gas at the end.

I'm not absolving our offense. It sucked.

My point was that while it certainly is better to score first, it was not essential we do so, and you twist that to say I absolved our offense.

I stick to my point: on game threads, I don't think anyone was as negative and defeatist as you. You ended up finally be right. We were defeated. We failed to score first.

You can pat yourself on your own back, now.

We did suck, but the other team does play a role in the outcome, too.

Some of those balls we swung at were very nice breaking balls.

Newsflash: many of the games we won, we swung at many balls in the dirt.

That was not the only factor. It was probably not the deciding one, either.

We dropped a fly ball that allowed that all important first run to score.

Even the double play ball hit to Schwarber could have been an out at home- possibly no 2nd run.

Ottavino sucked.

Our bats sucked worst of all. I never said they didn't.

BATS SUCKED!!!!

Batters sucked!
