You and I see the ALCS differently. I completely agree the Sox looked great winning 2 of the first 3 games, but after that they simply could not hit the Astros pitching, scoring a total of 1 run in the final 26 innings. The Astros pitching dominated the Sox lineup, pure and simple.

Meh this game tonight you gotta hit Luis García. I will give you game 5.

Here's something to think out over the offseason. Why do the Rays , Astros, Dodgers et alia compete over 5-8 year periods at the top level of their leagues and the Red Sox either win it all (4 times, thank you) or finish in the dumps , up and down, up and down, sort of like the inconsistent play between the fist and second halves of 2021, then the playoffs??? Why the variances?

Tough way to bookend the season. The Red Sox started the season with three straight losses to the Orioles while getting 15 hits and scoring five runs in 27 innings and ended the season with three straight losses to the Astros while getting ten hits and scoring three runs in the final 27 innings. Is there something about having orange in the opposing team's color scheme that made the Red Sox suffer this fate?

Still, they went further than anyone realistically could've expected when the season started and it took a sweep of the Nationals on the final weekend of the regular season to avoid a playoff game against the Blue Jays just to get into the playoffs.

Our bats had something to do with it, and normally I'd add we should be able to hit Garcia, but the guy was on his game. There really were not many pitches that look all that hittable, tonight.

Kudos to a good game by the home plate ump. I take back everything I said about robo umps. Scrap the idea. It was really exciting watching him call the game and knowing that it's an imperfect world and at anytime, he might get a call wrong. This made a rather sad game very fun for me.

It's all the umps fault.

The Astros 24 year old (Alvarez) wins the ALCS MVP. Hope our to be 25 year old does so next year, if he gets a little more .....

Max I think your the one who has a blind spot. Brilliant Cora is not. When the home runs dried up , so did Cora.

Cora’s moves deteriorated at the same pace as the offense.

I don't know. I'd love to see JD batting with his robotic swing and having a robo ump calling the balls and strikes.

Sox overachieved this year and absolutely demolished all predictions. It was a good run. Even in defeat, every sox fan should be happy about this club

Correct.

It should be a fun winter.

I look forward to some good back and forths.

Don't be so harsh on our future. Just about all of our departing players are not key players.

Home runs sure helped in the postseason, but Cora also made some excellent decisions on relief pitchers, especially in how he used Houck and Pivetta in relief in the ALDS. In the regular season, the Sox were 10th in dingers. And in the first half of the season it was the bullpen that made a big difference in the Sox leading the AL East and indeed the AL in wins.

I told you man. The sox could just never get on top of these guys early the last two games and that was the nail in the coffin for this team. Anyway i hope they get better in the offseason but you never know if you gonna get back here. They play in the toughest division in baseball. That’s not easy. Rays will look good again. The Yankees will add some pieces and the blue jays looked really good to end the season.

See ya, Jackson. You're not the worst Yankem fan I've ever met. I will credit you on one thing; you have mastered the art of condescending posts.

They also deteriorated as the BP got worse and worse.

Tonight pitching played no part to this L. Cora all by his lonesome put the game out of reach in the 8th but i said the sox would have to score early and often and they didn’t . That was all she wrote.

You’ll get better because you’ve got a guy who can literally pick up another team’s excrement and turn it into a major contributor. We all know the Yanks are gonna make a big splash this off-season. What I’m generally terrified of is the smaller moves Bloom makes. The guy seems to win every trade. Even the Beni deal, I know Franchy got DFA’d, but the deal was about the 4 minor leaguers he got. Everyone shat on the Enrique deal, then he goes out and is a 4WAR player and a post season king. He trades for Pivetta and he becomes a reliable pen piece AND a post season beast. He deals for an injured Schwarber and he becomes a key figure on the team. Then you’ve got the manager who pushes all the right motivation buttons to get the last ounce he can out of his team.

The scariest part of the Sox right now is they didn’t have tons of realistically moveable assets after last years truncated debacle. They do now, which means Bloom is going to be wheeling and dealing. He doesn’t get married to any player and he wins his deals. That’s scary

"I told you?"

Please!

You've been calling doomsday for as long as I remember. You finally got it right the last 3 games after being wrong for months, and you gloat.

Nice try.

I think we just might trade Bogey- maybe Vaz, too.

Only ERod & JD are players that may need to be replaced in kind, but then again, both might be back.

I don't expect Bloom to find another Whitlock, but another Kike, Renfroe and Pivetta would be nice.

It will be interesting to see if he goes larger than $15M on a FA. That's new territory, for him.

LMAO . We see it everytime but you wanna say no the sox have a chance no matter if they don’t score the first couple of innings. The sox won their two games in this series by jumping on top of the stros early. After the game 4 collapse this team was not the same. It’s crazy never seen a series turned like that. I thought sale showed some grit in game 5 and eovaldi did his thing tonight. Sox had a power outage and not all of it was the stros pitching.

I am never happy about losing, and I still think Bloom s*** the bed at the Trading Deadline, but I am very happy that we had a competitive season instead of falling off a cliff

See ya next season, MOON. You're living proof that SOX fans are the smartest.

I learned everything from you, Max, Bell, Kimmi, notin and others.

I think he will deal Bogey as well. He turned a s***** Workman on an expiring contract at mid season into Pivetta and Seabold, what can he do with a borderline HOFer (at least trending that way) in Bogaerts? I shudder to think.

I think Vaz is gone either way. Aren’t they down to club options with him?

Gloss over the fact that you've been predicting doom & gloom since as far back as I can remember.

You must be glad you finally found the nuts inside the broken clock.

It was a great season that could have been greater but it really sucks that we play in the best division in baseball. Really tough to get back here again in this same position.

Come on moon i am not all doom and gloom. I wanted these guys to come out quickly out of the gates against Luis García instead they made him look like Luis Tiant. The stros starting pitching was missing their best starter . Think about that .
