Maybe I'm wrong about some contending team wanting Richards or Perez. I've seen what some of their 5th starters look like and that Lazardo trade.

If I'm wrong, just DFA Richards, Santana and Andriese to make room for a SP'er we trade for, Sale and Sawamura- not to mention Brasier.

Keep Perez, if we can't add a pitcher.

I'd go...

1. Kike CF

2. Bogey SS

3. Devers 3B

4. JD DH

5. Scwarber 1B

6. Renfroe RF

7. Verdugo LF

8. Arroyo 2B

9. Vaz/Plawecki C

Bench:

Duran

Plawecki

Marwin

Dalbec

Rotation:

Eovaldi

Sale

Jon Gray

ERod

Pivetta

Pen

Barnes

Ottavino

Whitlock

Houck

Taylor

DHern

Sawamura

Richards and Perez traded

Santana & Andriese DFA'd

(Chavis, Rios, Valdez & Cordero to AAA)

Schwaber may not be able to handle first and is marginal defensively in the OF. I wonder if he could stretch at first without aggravating his hamstring injury. Sort of another Arroyo.

I think 1B is the plan unless we trade Verdugo or Duran or plan to use Kike/Arroyo at 1B.

I am guessing Schwaber could be used to rest the DH or in the outfield and also as a pinch hitter. I don't see him as a FT 1st baseman. Maybe in 2022 he becomes the primary DH.

Schwarber is a free agent after this season…

There's a mutual option, so we really have to wine and dine him for him to stay.

So Negative Nick's been firing away on a different thread...

POSITIVES

We got one of my favorite players, Schwarber.

We only lost ONE PROSPECT.

We may still be under the cap.

I can now go bitching about our rotation which I think can be fixed if they would only take my calls.

Yanks and Jays are both 8+ games back and made a ton of moves. Enough to get into the playoffs? Maybe not!

Not enough to win the Division. I doubt either can pass BOTH the Sox and the Rays.

So their hope is they can win a one game do or die game. I wouldn't bet on that.

I'm thrilled so many teams mortgaged some of their long term success for missed playoffs chances and early playoff exits.

I still like our chances, this year, if we can ride the magic for 3 more months, but for me, I'm more psyched about our chances in 2022 and beyond. This has been a surprising and fun season.

I don't get all the negativity, but I guess I should by now.

Yankees had a strong farm system too, they cashed in one year too early if you asked me.

Someone is feeling pressure in the Bronx

Yep. Cashman has been taking serious heat from unhappy Yankee fans.

Total fools!

They are supposedly in their window of opportunity though. Kluber is not far from coming back. And like I said, fans are unhappy. It might pay off, who knows.

If the tables were turned 1/2 this board would be ecstatic Bloom traded away the future for a chance for the 2nd wild card.

I’m not completely happy with Blooms decision to not make a bigger splash but I’d bet on him over cashman at the poker table.

Look at what the Dodgers did to throw money around. getting two excellent players to add to an already strong team. We got an injured slugger (not a bad pickup) and 2 so so relief pitchers.Maybe we will make a serious effort for 2022.

Here is the problem: The future is always in the future. It never really gets here. You do need to live in the present also. In this case , you have a shot at the gold . You have to go for it. Who knows what 2022 will bring? If it goes sour , do we say " Well , 2023 looks good." " Wait till next year" is as old as the hills.

The future does get here.

2018's future was 2019 and 2020. We paid the piper.

I get the argument how things can go horribly wrong when you are supposed to be good, but we needed to make a lot of moves to end up better than the Dodgers, SFG and maybe even HOU.

2023 would have sucked.

I agree with you in all but with a guy like Scherzer we are not worse than LAD or SDP. We are simply not, and my opinion is far from biased.

I think Vegas would make LAD the faves, if we got 2 Scherzers.

Also, if we did get Scherzer, LA would have gotten Berrios, so we wouldn't have gained the full value of Scherzer.

If we got 2 Scherzers, Vegas makes us the fav and is Not even close.

You are overrating LAD way too much. For instance I see SFG stronger right now.
